I'm hitting about 1500 calories, with ~35 grams carbs (and I'm trying to push those up to 40-50 as well). I like the idea of changing proportions from time to time to shake things up. I seem to be losing, so until that changes, I'll keep shifting things around.

That's scary discovering that you had a heart attack, Serea. My dad had the same thing - a series of small attacks that he was unaware of (of course, men I think tend to dismiss things).

Bambi, your road trip sounds like what the doctor ordered. I love Montana, have not spent much time in western SD, but it sounds wonderful. Drive safely.

I agree with both of you (Liz & Sherri). Pushing up the protein is indeed difficult for me. I do seem to stay full longer though and am not sneaking about looking for a snack.

Peggy - the coconut milk and cream arrived today. I see curry on the dinner menu. I also picked up a copy of "Practical Paleo" at the library. Looks so good, I expect ANOTHER book purchase is in my future.

Good Evening all
I'd like to cut back on HWC. Can I use Coconut cream in my coffee? Will it mellow the taste similar to cream? I'm now using coconut milk in protein drinks. I use coconut oil to cook. I've cut back on putting coconut oil in my coffee. No special reason for not doing it, just stopped.
Can you give me some direction on how you are using coconut products?
I purchased white chia seeds. What amounts do you use a day?
I enjoy reading of your experiments to keep losing wt. JanJ, I've followed you on the OC for years. Thanks for a lot of helpful input!
I'm doing my best to improve my health. It's been a challenge for me. I find everyone here to be an inspiration to me. You are very supportive of each other. I save many of JEY's links and advice also
I'll appreciate any help you can offer me.

Yes Liz I think that is what I heard too. I thought it was 20g of protein but it might have been 25g was usable by the body at a time. Of course there was no definition of what "at a time" meant. But 30 g is not that much more anyway.

Good morning! Down another 1/2 lb to 125 - only 1-1/2 more to the dream goal. Can't believe it after all the time I spent at 139 and then 132. Our bodies are so complex.

Joy: what is HWC? I drink coffe black but I understand that many people use coconut milk or cream in their coffee and enjoy it. One of the reasons I bought the coconut cream that Peggy suggested was for my husband to try in coffee (he hasn't yet). I recently started making some of the curries in the W30 book. So easy! I just heat coconut milk, stir in some curry paste to taste and then add cooked veggies and protein. Instant dinner and only one pot to wash. I'm also going to try whipping the coconut cream as I understand it can make a good substitute for real cream. I gave up dairy as part of this W30 challenge and just might keep it off the menu in the future.

Thanks for your comments about the OC and about this supportive group.

Nearly finished that painting but not quite - hopefully so today.

Have a great day everyone!

Joywas: Coconut cream does not mellow coffee the same way cream does in my opinion.

Janj: where do you live in Baltimore? My husband did his residency there and we lived a few blocks away.

Morning folks! Sun in shining and they're predicting 104º today!! I just don't go outside when it's sthat hot. Hope it doesn't get there. We got over 100 yesterday by 3pm, but not sure exactly how high....maybe 101 or 102. My coconut cream arrived yesterday, too, Janj. And you're right, Pam, coconut cream doesn't mellow coffee quite as nicely as HWC. But when eliminating dairy on Paleo-Primal, it's a LOT better than no cream at all. I've gotten used to it. It's best with a little sweetener as well, but I'm eliminating AS as well on Paleo.

Oh my gosh... this is so exciting. I installed a new operating system on my iMac yesterday, and I can dictate emails, letters and yes, message boards!!! no more typing!!
Sue, all best wishes for your daughter's health. Hi to everyone else, sounds like you are doing well. I am really just testing this out, and don't have much to say, now that I can say whatever I want.

'Sounds' backward Janet... All the 'kids' have given up talking on their phones and just text back and forth...
The next generation of humans will need particularly well developed thumbs to survive... Maybe even a couple extras...
