Default Hello from NC

Hello to everyone. My name is Cindi and I am from northeastern NC, about a 90 minute drive from the Dare Co. Outer Banks. I've been on here before but it was about 5 years ago. I'm a T2 diabetic on NovoLog 70/30 Mix and Janumet 50/1000 trying to do lower carb so I can slowly decrease my insulin use.

from Southern California. You’ll do a lot better managing your T2 with a low carb diet. Best wishes for success!

Welcome Cindi,

I'm in the RDU area, which also means I can use Dr. Eric Westman as a doctor and attend his support group meetings. If you are ever our way, try to stay for a 1st Tuesday of the Month support group meeting. You can see him at Duke or the HealClinic now. https://healclinics.com

In the meantime he has many talks on treating diabetes in his clinic on the DietDoctor website. Please watch this presentation, he has some good examples of how he reduces medications: https://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf-dia...dr-eric-westman His diet: https://www.dietdoctor.com/se/wp-co...starch_diet.pdf

Don't miss the Diabetes forum (titled Dr. Bernstein, another great plan, and includes other diabetes info) http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=45 Other great topics and support covered in the various sub-forums.

All the best,

Hi Janet,
I haven't visited the forum for a long time, but I'm back and ready to get going with weight loss again -- I hope. It's nice to see that you are still here.

Thank you all for the welcoming posts.

Janet, thanks for the suggestions. I'll read them over later today. I don't know when I will be in the RDU area as I am also the full time caregiver for my mom who had an aneurysm in 2016 and can't be left alone.due to short-term memory problems.

You can also watch the meetings on Facebook Live on the Heal Clinic FB Page. 6:30-8:00pm First Tues, so June 5th. The meeting is then archived at Heal Clinic FB Page under Videos. You can now watch the meetings from earlier this year. Most had many "newbies" and he spends lots of time answering their questions.
June 5th is there now.

Thank you for that information, Janet. I'll remember to check it out when I get a chance.
