Default Nitrates...

Anyone know where in Melb you can get meat (eg. bacon, ham) that is nitrate-free? I've looked in many, many stores and can't find a single one!

Hi Dawn,

When I first started I tried many a butcher here looking for nitrate free bacon, as Dr A suggests it is better. But after a while, and doing a little reading, I just gave up. Now I only eat bacon & ham occasionally and I don't worry about the nitrates.
And I have never stalled due to eating bacon or ham.

Sorry not to be more helpful.

Roz

Yeah that's what I've ended up doing. I called up Coles and they don't add sugar to their own brand of bacon so I guess that's good.

There might to an organic shop out there that doesn't put nitrates in their meats but I'm yet to find it still...
