Metformin
I just wanted to tell everyone I had trouble losing weight and then I was put on Metformin for my insulin resistance. Although the weight was coming off very well, I was sick to my stomach every day and it did not improve over time. I read about this with many people and just gave up hope and stopped the meds. I recently saw a new doctor who is an endocronologist and he said that a lot of people who switch to the brand name Glumetza do not suffer these side effects. I was skeptical but started on Glumetza. So far I have had no stomach issues at all. Just a tip for any of you feeling sick long term with Metformin. It's worth a shot.

Thank you for posting this.
I started Metformin 6 days ago and have had stomach cramps and diarrhea every day. I'm not even at the point where I would be taking it twice a day yet. My doctor told me to continue with just once a day until the diarrhea subsides, then up to twice a day. But then I'm thinking I'll end up having stomach issues all day long. How are you suppose to have a life if you are constantly running to the bathroom???

I've tried Metformin in the past, and may have to try it again - which I'm not looking forward to. In the past I was on a 1/2 a pill every other day and it was making me VERY ILL. I couldn't even take ONE pill a day let alone 2 or 3!! So, I will mention Glumetza to my doctor in the hopes that I can get it!! Thanks so much!!

I ended up switching over to Glumetza. My stomache is doing much better, however, the price for Glumetza is significantly different. Metformin only cost me $4 a bottle at Walmart. Glumetza cost me $30 a bottle, and that's with insurance.
