Took yesterday off and rested up. My heart rates were still elevated.

I have to wonder if it's from the full stomach I have from eating catfish in C this evening.

Or it could be the fact that my body is acting like it's trying to come down with a cold again.

Or possibly it's dehydration as I haven't been drinking my 96 oz./day the last 2 days.

Or still another possibly is the HR monitor isn't accurate. I have been having problems keeping it going as evident by the ??? in the BPM column.

I gotta calibrate my treadmill, too....<mutter, mutter, mutter>

Took the last week off, rested up as my heart rates were consistently elevated; it also gave my lower back and ankle time to heal.

I think the problem has been the flux in with my thyroid meds, first with missing doses while in the hospital and then decreasing my doses in December and now bringing them up to 5 grains.

I boosted my last 'set' up to 2.8 mph and was easily able to hold a conversation with Ernest throughout the 5 minutes. ( I was wondering if I my HR would be too high at that speed and then Ernest, who never talks to me when I'm walking, started visiting with me about what was on tv! The Lord does provide!!) Since I wasn't winded I think I'm going to start walking at higher and higher speeds from now on. (Obviously the slower speeds aren't burning any fat.... )

With the 3.1 mph speed I have to really concentrate to keep from stepping off the treadmill's belt because my strides are so long and determined and my arms are swinging to be able to keep up.

Funny thing about it though (when I can get the HR monitor to work), it appears my heart is beating slower with these speeds than with the slower ones as I have no problem talking and never feel the need to huff when breathing.

My legs have been another surprising thing at these speeds - they stay warm to the touch for more than an hour after I walk (c'mon new capillaries!!), as does my core body temperature. Tonight, after my last 'set', I changed into a undershirt and shorts then turned the ceiling fan on high. Ernest asked when it was going to be turned off; he was cold! It's now 2 hours after my last 'set' and I'm just now starting to feel cool.

A side note plus - the palpitations and arrythmia I started experiencing a couple days ago seems to have subsided. Hopefully my guess was right that if I had too much T4/T3 then exercising harder would put it to use instead of it jacking with my heart. *

I really like walking like this!!

I had a severe drop in my thyroid meds and haven't felt like doing any exercise for several weeks.

But Friday I got a new weight machine and am working to get back into working out on a regular basis.

The next 5 posts will be my work-outs Friday thru Tuesday.

The only sore muscles today were my abs. (I did 50 crunches last night.)

Tonight I went crazy and did most the cable and lever upper body exercises I found on Exrx.net that I could do on this machine.

The only sore muscles today are still my abs. (I did around 15 with 30 lbs of weight.)

Late tonight I followed the rules of:

Largest amount of muscle mass
Complex -> Isolated
Agonist (flexor/contract) -> Antagonist (extensor/open)

With those thoughts in mind these are the exercises in the order I did them:

Squats
Leg Extensions
CableStanding Hip Extension
Hip Extensions
Hamstring Curl
Cable Adduction
Cable Abduction
Calf Raises
Ankle - Plantar Flexion
Seated Crunch

The only sore muscles today were my lateral deltoids. (I did 50 crunches last night with 20 lbs [I think]. Apparently it wasn't enough....)

I decided I better take a night off from pushing so hard so that I can help not over train. Then this afternoon I rode my bike down to the church and didn't take my keys. When I got home I thought E had locked all the doors so I rode my bike the almost 2 miles to the terminal bucking a hefty head wind all the way.

Tonight I'm itching to work out, but I know I have got to give my body an opportunity to catch up to all the 'damage' I've done lifting. So instead I worked up an upper body routine and then printed up a card to record my weights and reps.

Using this machine takes me back to the Weider wall unit I had in the '80's and I remember why I loved lifting so much! Hopefully I'll have the same terrific success with it, as well.

After a very long hiatus I am back again.

My cancer came back in 2013 which meant a change in my thyroid meds which meant a crash in physical abilities.

Earlier this my blood work showed that my pituitary is no longer secreting even the minimal reference amounts of growth hormone. Eventually I will finish all the necessary testing and, if need be, start taking daily replacement shots.

In the mean time, I'm back to low carbing trying to counteract the effects of my body building more fat than muscle due to the lack of GH.

This time I consuming protein powder 6 times a day and eating LC if I ever get hungry. Surprisingly, each time I consume the protein powder the pain in my joints/body magically disappears and is staying gone longer with each day I stay on the regiment.
