Thank you all for posting your stories. I just got the book yesterday and am very nervous about starting. The whole RM things is really scary to me. I've been doing Atkins for almost 2 years now successfully. I've lost 40 lbs and am about 10-15 lbs from goal and I'm stuck. I don't have cravings or cheat very often, an occasional 1/2 hamburger bun or some croutons here and there, but nothing major. If I could have these things occasionally, and still lose, that would be great. I can see myself choosing things like a whole grain roll, sweet potato, brown rice, or some lc pasta as my 1/3 portion of carbs at my RM. I'm over the whole white flour/sugar thing already from my Atkins journey and I have no desire to introduce those things into my diet again. It would be nice to have that option though on special occasions like the holidays. I am going to try this WOE, and make my RM carbs the ones I have listed above or something similar. Have any of you done that? Keep your carbs the whole grain healthy ones? I think the toughy for me will be limiting the sugar substitutes and diet cokes, but I'm hoping that may help me lose as well. I'm also going to give up the gum which I chew daily. Hopefully this will not become a slippery slope for me...that's my biggest fear. Your stories have really helped me have the courage to try this. Thank you all for sharing!

I have another question...every day at work at about 10:30 I get a little hungry. This is even when I have eggs for breakfast. Up until now, I have had a handful of nuts to keep me going until lunch at 12:30. Even when I was losing on Atkins, I had this handful of nuts and was fine. It didn't trigger anything and it hit the spot. Can I assume that I can still do this since it doesn't trigger cravings or make me spin out of control? What would be the difference between this or a CM snack? I have the same question about the occasional protein shake. Thanks!

5Cats, I don't think you can do that on CAD. Even though the nuts don't produce cravings, they are still a carb and they will still cause more insulin to be dumped into your body.

Hi, 5 cats! Do you only eat eggs or do you have something else with it? I have found that the first few weeks I have to eat more for breakfast than I do when I have been on the plan for a while.

Try drinking a large glass of water and see if that helps. Are you drinking water throughout the day? Maybe some celery and a bit of cream cheese? I find I don't have to snack if I drink enough water. YMMV though!

Welcole to the board!

Hi cad-dawn! Yes, I've had eggs with bacon, eggs with strawberries, eggs with cheese, or sometimes just a protein shake (which I'll miss terribly!). I wonder how much my mid morning nut snack has just become a habit?? I'm starting tomorrow, so I'll start with some eggs and water and then pack a cheese stick or something to snack on if I need it. Cheese sticks are okay right? Boy, it's hard being a newbie after all this time! Thanks again for the welcome.
