Hi Bigmuma,

Welcome. It's always good to see another Aussie on board!
What part of Oz do you hail from?

Hi Bigmuma and welcome from Tassie.

My first impression of your induction menu is you should be getting more veggies - I think Atkins says 2 cups of vegetables and a cup of salad (it might be the other way round I forget!) The point is you should be getting your 20 g of carbs from mostly low carb vegetable sources when you start - there is no point going well under 20 grams of carbs as you are - and the nutrients and fibre you get with vegetables will help you.

The other thing is, if I were you I would be looking for more variety in your diet - even if you only do induction for 2 weeks (some stay at this level of carbs for much longer) the more interesting and varied your diet is the better able you are to view it as a way of life - as it should be (not just another weight loss diet).

HTH

Cheers,

Malcolm

The other way around! Two cups of greens and one cup chopped veggies to go on it!

Ah there you go, thanks for that! Although if you ask me, as long as you stick to the carb limit gudelines of whatever plan you choose 6 cups would be fine ... but if you are doing Atkins it probably pays to do it by the letter for the first 3 months or so - by which time most people start tinkering anyway!

Cheers,

Malcolm

No, thats just me!

As I say if DANDR is the book you have read and if you are following that plan then I suggest you follow it by the letter for at least three months, before you start making any changes.

Other plans (such as Protein Power) allow higher amounts of carbs during intervention (induction) but all plans suggest you get the majority of your carbs from lc veggies in the initial period.

Cheers,

Malcolm
