Default A year no beer

Hi All

I have followed Low carb/ketogenic on and off for 5 years. I found it a good way to lose weight but I struggled with my exercise (cycling), so I went back on the carbs to get my performance back. Last year I cracked exercise in a ketogenic state it was amazing but again I was highly focused on an event and after that goal I fell off the wagon. A day turned into a week, a month then 6 months. 14kg later I need to take control again.

I am now going through the journey of adaptation again and my goal is to work out how to maintain this lifestyle without falling back into the sugar trap. I have decided to write a blog to keep me honest and help anyone else who is interested.

Thanks Glover

Hey Glover, what device(s) are you using for measuring glucose and ketones? That's a good goal staying away from sugar and beer. I have done the same for a little over a year now and am very thankful.

You will do well!

I just change to this one as the test strips are much cheaper.

Thanks for the info Glover. I've picked up one of these Ketonix meters http://www.ketonix.com/ - and did some urine strip comparisons that were interesting for a few months http://downhaul.com/lowcarb/daily.txt . We had some lively ketone discussion on this thread below. Please add to it if you have some good observations Best of luck!
