Default Yes, I'm lazy--I also have a foot injury...

I injured a ligament in the top of my foot about 4 years ago and it never healed properly. I also have some tendon damage- same foot. I have a lot of pain in that foot and some days are worse than others. I take vioxx and T-3's with codiene for the pain. I have to be on my feet all day at work, and am trying to get in to see a specialist in the next few weeks - the office is in another community 45 minutes away. Until I get my walking assessment...

I wonder if anyone has any ideas what could be good excercise for me to do in the meantime. Swimming or extra walking really seems to aggravate the condition. Do you know of any videos I can do for some upper body excercise I can do sitting on my coffee table?? I could do stretching excericises with my left foot, it is just the right foot that aches.

I want to be more of an inspiration for my daughter, but it is hard for me to get out there and do any real excercise with her. Last year I tried walking around the block while she was learning how to ride her two wheeler with no training wheels. I would get one night of walking and have to skip 2 or 3 due to pain. I am also a single parent, and do not have a lot of free time to go to the gym or the pool. I need something I can do after work before I pick my kid up from school, or on my days off (during the week), or just when I have a spare 20 minutes.
Any ideas? anyone?

Lift weights. You should be able to do just about EVERY upper body lift, and there may be some lower body movements you can do as well, since you won't be JUMPING or LANDING on it.

This will build muscle, which in turn, burns more fat than you will with just cardio anyway.

Besides, once you are lighter, you will put less strain on your feet anyway.

Whaddya think?

i agree with built that weight lifting would seem to be the way to go..
also i believe most pilates is mat work so you should be able to do most of the moves might want to look into that too

Pilates... that is interesting. How do I get started with that? Ive seen those Winsor Pilates tapes around the stores- should I get them? Or is there a better way to go?
I can't afford the gym- I just took a 11% pay reduction, so I need cheeeeeeap excercise.

I had my left ankle reconstructed back in 1998 because it was completely unstable, all the ligaments were loose from years of many sprains. I cautiously at that point started riding an exercise bike - at first with little resistance. It felt great because it was not weight-bearing, yet I was able to get some cardio benefits from it. Maybe your foot would tolerate that?
