Anyone trying iodine instead of thyroid hormone?
I've been reading where Dr. Eades suggests taking Iodoral iodine supplements, as being low in iodine could be a cause of hypothyroidism. I ordered some Iodoral online, and for the past few days have taken one tablet each morning instead of my Armour thyroid.
The reason I'm not taking the Armour thyroid pill is because everything I've read says not to take both, so I decided it was worth the experiment to stop my regular thyroid pills. So far, I can't tell a difference in how I feel, (but I can usually "coast" for a few days or even up to a week or two if my thyroid level was "up" when I stop taking it.)
Does anyone have more info on this? I didn't go in to ask my doctor about what he thinks, because it would take more than a month to get in to see him for anything but an emergency, and I also think he'd just tell me to stay on the thyroid pills. I'd really like to see if this iodine gives my thyroid what it needs...just wondering if there's anyone out there who is trying this, too....I guess I'm hoping that by giving my thyroid gland the iodine it has been missing, it will work properly again...
Am I just deluding myself?
