Default Hyperthyroidism

I've just been diagnoised with Hyperthyroidism. I've been having so much trouble staying on Atkins and have no energy at all for exercise. Sleep is the only thing I want to do. Has anyone else gone through this situation with Hyperthyroidism? I have other health issues including uncontrolled asthma. I just want to be able to get back on track.

That's weird. Your symptoms sounds like hypothyroidism not hyper?

Your hypo symptoms may be due to two things. Either you are cycling between hyper and hypo thyroid or you may be in need a medication alteration. I have seen people dx with hypothyroid with some hyper symptoms such as racing heart, insomnia, shakiness, wt loss. Are you taking medication for your hyperthyroidism? If so, there could be a problem with the dosage. Too high of a dose may actually suppress thyroid hormones and throw someone into hypothyroidism.

I was going to say it sounded like hypo too but sometimes the symptoms can be exactly opposite. Like weight gain with hyper. And hyperthyroid definitely would not be conducive to exercising since you tend to have muscle weakness and a way too fast heart beat.

I always felt exhausted with hyperthyroid because the insomnia was so bad.

When I was hyper I was extemely tired and couldn't do anything. I had a severe case of it. My heart and other body organs were working so hard and fast that it literally wore me out. The only way that my hyperthyroidism could be controlled was to get rid of it all together. Now I am hypo but that Dr's said that it is easier to control hypo over hyper. Hang in there and keep on having your lab work done when ordered.

UPDATE. The specialist did another blood test and found the medication I was on messed up the numbers on the test. He then retested me and found I did not have Hyperthyroidism after all. I am going through menopause. They symptoms seem to mirror Thyroid conditions. And I'm enemic. I'm relieved at least I know for sure what is causing all my problems.
