Default Northern Colorado? Fantastic Doc

If anyone is in the northern Colorado area and looking for a doctor who is a proponent of LC, I can highly recommend Dr. Frank Morgan, in Greeley. He has been doing a lot of nutrition research and has become convinced that lc/vlc is the absolute best way of eating/living, and has said he wishes he could open a clinic (if only he didn't need a paycheck every week :-) . He feels that so many health issues that people have would be vastly improved or cured if they would only change their way of eating, rather than just popping pills.

Sound familiar? I told him I could hug him :-) My son has some serious health issues and has to lose a lot of weight very quickly, and this was his recommendation for him.

Isn't Greeley where Cordain works/lives? I wonder if he was influenced by Cordain.

I hadn't heard that Cordain lives around here...

Two years ago when my husband was diagnosed with diabetes Dr. Morgan taught him about metabolic syndrome and recommended a semi-low carb diet, so he was at least starting to look into it. He told us a little story, though, how he decided to compete with a friend who was going to try to improve his body composition by working out, and Dr. Morgan wanted to prove it could be done with virtually diet alone. He put himself on a vlc diet and won the competition, hands down, which helped sell him on it (although he isn't a heavy guy at all, he said he lost a few pounds and improved all his other health measurements). But he told us he was looking at it originally from a scientific standpoint, and read "The Art and Science of Low Carb Living" (can't remember the author), as well as other studies and some of Taubes' work.

Anyway, I'm glad we got to compare notes on it, and I told him if he ever did open a clinic I would come work for him :-)

Stephen Phinney and Jeff Volek are the authors you're trying to think of, Donna. That's a great book as their follow-up "The Art and Science of Low Carb Performance", which came out a little over a year ago.

You are so lucky to have such a practitioner nearby.
