Default How much protein???

Hello all! I've been contemplating the switch to PPLP & have just ordered a copy of the book at amazon. I can't wait for it to arrive and learn a lot more. However, I am a little anxious to get started. Would anyone be able to tell me what my protein requirements would be? I'm not sure what you need to figure this out but I am 5'6", female, 31 yrs old, and 292lbs.

Thanks in advance!! I look forward to learning much from everyone here!

Thanks,
Gwen

To start, about 40g per meal. As you loose it will go down.

Thanks again,
Gwen

I thought 40 grams a meal (120 grm total) sounded like a lot but I just plugged in my food for the day ~ fitday--and I'm already at 119 protein grams and I didn't even eat dinner yet!! Now I'm worried! I mean I see areas where I can cut back a little and I am unusually hungry today after a higher carb weekend but STILL I haven't been gorging on meat or anything. I guess I'm surprised that my protein levels are already very high. And worried because not sure I can lower them THAT much without being hungry....oh my.

But 40 grams a meal (120 grm total) is the MINIMUM you need to satisfy your daily requirement for protein. There is no hard and fast rule about how much over you can go, but from all my reading I would say double is probably at or near the maximum you should go.

So you are OK.

That's a relief!! Thanks so much for the additional information. Hopefully my copy of PPLP will arrive soon so I can educate myself thoroughly on this plan. Thanks again!
