Default Metformin Reduce Dose

i used to be 24stone and my doctor put me on the 850mg twice a day

now im 14.8stone and starting to feel sick when i take it like i used to when the side affects were settling, the doctor thinks the dose might be to high for someone whos not that heavy any more so has given me the 500mg twice a day ones

has anyone else had this from there doctor as well since losing alot of weight? or did they keep u on the same dosage till the end of your weight loss?

Congratulations on your weight loss! Good for you! Go ahead and try the lower dose. Between having less body mass, and less insulin resistance due to that weight loss, 1000mg might be more appropriate for you. Good luck!

You should probably go back to your doctor and have them do bloodwork. I don't think it should inhibit your weightloss. I was told that Met was taken to help you break down your sugar better. My thought is if your dosage is to high and your body is looking for the sugar it may decide to cling on to whenever it comes across which is not what you want to happen. But mind you I am not a doctor.
