Default benihana ginger salad dressing!!

I looked this one up online, then made it, and WOW, just like the stuff you get on your salad before your haibachi dinner!!! (next is the hunt for that soup!)

I even entered it into fitday to calculate the carbs for you. I'm sure if you substitute low-carb ketchup it would be even less! I use this on salad, dip 1/2 cup raw green beans into it as a snack, and even smother it on tuna steaks!!
Enjoy!

1/2 cup minced onion
1/2 cup peanut oil
1/3 cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons water
>>>>>(at this point I purreed the mixture)
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
2 tablespoons minced celery (I think I accidentally ommitted this)
2 tablespoons ketchup
4 teaspoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons sugar (I used one packet of splend instead)
2 teaspoons lemon juice (used fresh)
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic (used a bit of garlic powder)
1/2 teaspoon salt (really to taste)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper (really to taste)

according to fitday

This sounds delish *making list to go shopping tommorrow*! It's a nice change of pace from my normal italian or ranch dressing! Thanks!

Just wanted to drop a note letting you know that "that soup" you get before a Japanese steakhouse dinner is just plain miso soup. You can find dry packets of them at any decent size grocery store and all you need to add is boiling water (and fresh tofu).

You can also get some with dried tofu chunks already included. Erm, for a decent taste add fresh and maybe some sea weed

I always thought the ginger dressing had some mayonaise in it. It always had a little hint of that taste to me. I will totally try it.

BTW: Anyone know of a good brand of miso soup packets? All the ones I have tried taste horrible and the ones that whole foods has in the refrigerated section all have rice or barley in them. I would love a good cup of miso soup!
