Just got the results from my blood tests after 10 months of Atkins:
November 2005
(10 months on Atkins, down ~75lbs)
LDL 2.94 = NEAR OPTIMAL (Arpil 2.78 = near optimal)
HDL 1.48 = PROTECTIVE (April 1.07 = near protective)
Total Cholesterol 5.04 = OPTIMAL (April 4.42 = optimal)
Ratio 3.4 = OPTIMAL (April 4.1 = good)
Triglycerides 1.36 = OPTIMAL (April 1.26 = optimal)
Fasting glucose 4.2 (April 4.1)
Blood Pressure = 118/75 (April = 125/75)
So overall, HDL moved up just to the protective range but it did jump quite a bit overall & thus my ratio improved from good to optimal.
Another funny thing happened...this is something I posted after my 4 month test results:

Her brow furrowed and she said "Oh, you better be careful, Atkins is very dangerous." I just smiled and said "Thank you." and walked out. Arrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a lipid profile that she and the doctor just told me is excellent, but Atkins is dangerous
