Knockin the dust off of this thread... Whew!

Any suggestions? I saw on another recipe site that the cabbage can get runny. Is this true? I also heard that if you microwave the cabbage it doesn't make the lasagna runny? I am about to make this tomorrow using my regular recipe for eggplant or Dreamfields. so I am coming to long time experts or those who have tried this...
thanks, Cocoa

Not lasagna, but I have used cooked cabbage leaves to make enchiladas, and they were sooooo goooood!

Cocoa,
Hi! I have not posted here for a long time, but I still enjoy making the cabbage lasagna.
I have never had the cabbage become "runny". I cut the cabbage leaves in wide strips about the size of regular lasagna noodles would be. I don't over-cook the cabbage either.
Make sure you drain the cooked cabbage well before you start to layer the leaves like noodles.
I still think that if you put a little Splenda in your cabbage water that it takes the bitter taste out of it.
I hope you like this recipe as well as many of my guests have.
I really do believe that cabbage is good diuretic and will release
water weight.
Good luck!

Thank you! I finally made it using my regular lasagna recipe. I did use the splenda and I microwaved the cabbage. I used the cabbage as a leaves and didn't cut them. I think I should have cut the vein out. Slicing the *noodle* from each side of the vein. I added a hint of cinnamon to my sauce as well.
I used turkey pepperoni also and it was YUMMY! I also should have used more than 1 lb of beef. I am not sure how much your recipe called for....

About the enchiladas-- Did you make them with beef or chicken, rolled or like a casserole? That sounds very yummy!
Thank you both for your feedback!

I used shredded chicken meat with sauteed onion and green pepper and made a filling with mexican spices, maybe some sour cream to moisten it, then rolled them in a cooked and dried leaf (I do cut out the core of the leaf) just like you would a tortilla. I can't remember what I topped them with, I may have made something up from Rotel tomatoes with green chilis, draining the liquid off and adding either cream cheese or sour cream and topped with cheddar cheese. I"m sure ground beef would work. Use your imagination!

sorry, i didnt know there was a rule against bumping recipes up.

this one looks genius. i've tried zucchini lasagna recipes that turned out like mush. the cabbage should hold up really well. i look forward to trying it out.
