Nine out of ten for me. Yargh. I always thought I was the only one who did those things (still felt very hungry after meals, ate after full, etc., etc.).

Default CAD Test?

Hello to all.

I just joined and found this page on the CAD test. Is this one and the same as the one in the "The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet" book by the Heller couple? I tried to click on the site, but was unable to get it to open.
By the way, I am in the severe range, and have tried so many diets, but just do not make anywhere near my goal weight, before I pick up my old carb-eating habits again. I sincerely hope that I will find the best way in doing so soon.
I was someone, in the past who could eat anything and any amount I wanted without gaining. Now, it is nothing short of a real struggle. I really want and need to find a way to accomplish my weight objective, and hope this site and all of you will support me in what has been a real challenge for quite some time now.
I was once a smoker, and did not find it that difficult at all to quit. Really. I did start smoking again twice, in the past due to the weight gain, but will not make that mistake again, for health concerns etc.
Thanks a bunch for reading my intro post, and I hope I can not only be supported, but find ways to support you as well.

Best regards.
efb

PS: Now I need to learn how to use this site. Let's see if I can put in a smiley.

This test is the short version. The link on the first entry is no longer working but the one above your post should be.

Welcome.

Thanks but the site will not open up, and states error etc. I do have the book, "The CAD Diet", took the test and am in the severe range, so know I could benefit from this eating plan/diet.
I have on other occasions done quite well while on it, but it is short-lived due to my binges when I am out of the house, or hubby brings his ice cream in. That is a real tough one for me.
Thanks for your reply.

efb, I think Zuleikaa meant the link in the post right before yours. This should work...

Default Ease into it

I've been doing CAD off and on for a while- I'm doing this for an overall life change- the weight loss is not the only thing I'm looking for. I know life happens and you may not stick to the diet everyday- I have come to a place to forgive myself when it happens. The great thing about this diet is you can just jump back on, and you'll see the results! The feeling of balance and calm I have is so worth it! Once you've been on this diet for about two weeks, you'll start to recognize that you CAN eat less and stay full and satisfied. Until then, you'll swing back and forth training your brain to not freak out.
If people bring ice cream or cake around and you've already had your RM, just look forward to having some the next day- how wonderful it will taste and how glad you'll be you waited!
I've also divided my carbs into "bites"- if I have 2 bites of pasta, I can have three bites of ice cream, and one glass of wine/beer. I enjoy ALL OF IT!
You'll also have to figure out which foods work and don't work for your CMs, what your body can tolerate and can't, etc.
Just relax and realize the lifelong effects will be balance and calm when it comes to food- don't come down too hard on yourself now.
Good luck!
Keep posting!
Edy

This is my first time venturing into the CAD forum, i know pretty much nothing about CAD. After taking the test and scoring 10 and reading this thread i decided it won't hurt to read the CAD book, so i ordered the book through my book swap. I figure i will give it a read. The idea of a reward meal scares me half to death to be honest, i have a hard time understanding how you could eat chips or cookies or something with sugar or pasta, white flour etc and it to NOT cause cravings! i guess i better read what they have to say in the book.
What new stuff has been added to the CALP book that wasnt in the CAD book? i ordered the CAD book because i am not over 40
