Who wants to have a Christmas potluck dinner on Sunday, November 10?

To make this more enticing, I'll do a beef tenderloin and low-carb Christmas cookies. You can test out my new LC marshmallows!

Dogs are welcome too.

I can't make it Nov. 10, but Dec. 10 is great! I'll do latkes. They should go well with the beef, and it's the right time of year for them!

Smile Latkes

I've posted the recipie in the 'recipies' section. Basically, it's spaghetti squash, egg, soy flour, grated onion, and maybe a bit of cottage cheese. You just glop it all together and fry it. Tastes quite potato-y, with the added benefit that you don't have to grate anything!

The same recipie without cheese and the addition of more chopped veggies and curry makes a good pakora, too.

I will! I'm doing beef tenderloin and dessert, Rachel is doing latkes. Deb is doing a cheese plate or a cheesecake. We need a sauce for the beef, a couple of salad/vegetable dishes and another meaty--or fishy--main course. You can bring your famous bread Wa'il, which I'm sure everyone would love to try.

They sound quite groovy and would probably be good with some sour cream and crispy bacon on top, though it would not be Kosher. I'm looking forward to trying them.

BTW, how was coffee?

Question au Jus/Hunter sauce and....

I REALLY want to be there for this, so I'm working VERY VERY hard on coming up with a minimum of 2 business reasons to bring moi & the vehicle over... (did have a VERY interesting conversation with the International Sales guy at DaVinci Gourmet today, hmmmmmmmmm).

That being said, IF I can make it I will bring my famous :P Hunter Sauce (i'm an absolute fiend about Porcinis though can only get them dried) and a casserole full of my also famous Garlic and SourCream Cauliflower.

An idea, plus/minus 2, of how many eaters would be a help.

Count me and a my friend Barb in. She has received a post from you too but I'm not sure what her username is. Will let you know soon what we are bringing but I could bring Mashed Celery Root (good replacement for mashed potatoes). I will get Barb to write what she is bringing.

Has anyone said yet where we are having this. Is it at Karen's? Directions to follow, I take it?

Judy (vancouver girl)
(coincidence that Island Girl and I have the same first name)

Default Pot Luck Roster

OK. So far we have:

Karen - Beef Tenderloin and Dessert
Rachel - Latkes
Wa'il - Bread and BBQ Sauce
Judy - Mashed Celeriac
Judy's Friend Barb - ?
Judi - Cauliflower Sour Cream Garlic Casserole and Famous Hunter Sauce(if she can make it to Vancouver)
Deb - Cheese Plate or Cheese Cake

I think we need another main course and some salads.

Wow! It's a happening thing! Will more want to join? Kathy, what about you!

Yes, it will be at my place. I live in deepest, darkest Gastown in a four-storey converted warehouse/townhouse with two dogs and a great view of the North Shore. If anyone has a dog they want to bring, please do. A map etc. will follow soon.

Talking Judy's Friend

Karen,

I am Barb T, Judy/Vancouver Girl's friend. I will bring stuffed mushroom caps to the pot luck. This sounds like a lot of fun. See you on the 10th!

Island Girl, this could be a business dinner as you will be talking with potential clients!

Can I assume we bring the recipes with us so we can all swap?

Barb

Hi Barb,

Better yet, let's share our recipes here on the forum, so everyone can benefit, even those not in Vancouver

I've posted my bread recipe under Recipes/Bread, and will post the BBQ sauce recipe soon as well.
