Default Has anyone had luck on "the zone"?

I was just wondering? I mean if you tend not to choose the "favorable" items it seems low carb.

Default The Barry Shears Zone?

If you are asking about Barry Shears "The Zone", I did it back in the mid-90's. It worked wonders for a few years, but when I went back, my body didn't seem to react at all and I did not lose a pound. And my exercise routine was the same. I was just a little older and maybe my body had become resistant.

Thank you deannagmd,
I am weighing my options and trying to get educated about the facts. That really helps.
Did you stick to the low gi carbs?

My sister-in-law follows it still. She first started about 5 or 6 years ago and lost the extra pounds she wanted to lose and has maintained quite well. She definitely sticks to low GI carbs except for the occasional very small piece of cake or such for a birthday. Don't ask me how I did it, but I came from a family with blood sugar problems and married into one with the same. She's the one who originally got me thinking about an LC plan.

Lighter115,

I do a 40/30/30 nutrition program that is based on the Zone and I have had tremendous success with it. It is called The Formula, written by Gene and Joyce Daoust. It takes all the complexities of the Zone and simplifies it.

Atkins did NOT work for me and although I adapted very well to strict low carb, I began gaining and eventually surpassed my starting weight! I started The Formula in October of 2005 and as of yesterday, I am 33 lbs. lighter and my BF % is way down!

I am doing the zone... well not real faithfully these days but it has become pretty automatic anymore. I enjoy it tremendously! It still seems to be working for me... 55 pounds and counting.
