Default Figured out how to stop stall!!!

I got so frustrated with my six week stall after being on Atkins for about seven weeks that I started eating carbs agian and lots of it: pizza, candy, cake, ice cream, popcorn, you name it, it went into my mouth. It was the greatest two days of indulgence of my life, but then the headaches came back and I started feeling lethargic and over all not feeling too great. So the third day I started back with Induction and wala! I stopped my stall and going down in pounds once again . It feels great to finally start to see the scale go downward and not stuck and I'm experiencing my whoosh!
I don't recommend this for everyone, but it sure helped my stall. Everyone's body reacts differently, so who knows it might work for you all who are at a stall, too.

Lot's of people have said this works for them - the problem is there's no guarantee, others try this and gain. I guess the gamblers among us will find out - me I LUV the casino

I remember that method working for me as well, my first time on atkins. I used to call it carb blasting, but it eventually led me away from atkins, so just be careful and stay focused!

This is the biggest danger of using this type of stall-breaker. Can you get back on the wagon again and stay there? Many don't have the type of self-discipline needed.
I'm glad it worked, but I don't think I'm willing to gamble that a) I wouldn't jump 5-7 pounds on the scale and b) that I would be able to jump right back on the wagon again.

I can't say I'd go for it either. I just can't reconcile eating bad stuff just to speed up weight loss.

I just wanted to share my experience. It was an accidental discovery for me. Like I said, I was very frustrated with my stall of several weeks and I just said, "what the h---" and went off Atkins at which point after two days, I started feeling really awful after loading up on too many carbs, so I started back with induction, because being on this diet has been the only time that I have had more energy and appetite suppression. I was fortunate enough to have the self discipline to get back to LCing after binging on carbs for two days. I also said I don't recommend this for everyone on a stall, but it did work for me.
And yes, it is a gamble. Will I do this when I'm at a stall again? Maybe. It depends on how far or near I am to my goal weight.
Just thought I'd share. It might help someone else.

A similar (and perhaps more safely scheduled) thing you can do is a "refeed." There's some info about it lurking around the forum. I did one myself where I ate low fat, mostly simple sugars for one day above maintenance caloric levels. I gained 8lbs of water and lost it all in a week. It's a good way to remind your body it's not starving and to replenish a hormone called Leptin.

I would add links to info and all that fancy stuff, but I'm on a foreign computer. Maybe I'll edit them in later.

Default Blow off meals.

After a month or so on a strict low-carb diet, your Thyroid will slow down. To stimulate it back into action, try adding a blow-off meal to your diet once or twice a week. (Like dinner on Saturday and Sunday) Don't go crazy with this meal, eat sensibly, but make sure you include carbs in these meals. Then go right back to your low-carb.

Be sure to plan these meals in advance as a regular part of your diet. Don't just start eating carbs and then call it your blow off meal. And don't use your blow off meal as an excuse to binge on all your old favorite foods. Otherwise, before you know it, you will be completely off the diet.

I have done refeeding with great success, but after a couple months it becomes somewhat bothersome gaining and loosing weight every week. Refeeds are normal tool used by body builders to get very low body fat. Nice way to shake things up once in a while anyway. I initially found about Leptin in these forums.

Hmmm I am thinking of trying that with some locarb bread. Maybe even eat a whole damned sandwhich! what a thought! I am in my fourth week of induction and after a steady loss for 3 weeks I stalled. I'm hovering around the same weight for a week now and the measuring tape didn't change much from last week.

That did work for me a few times, but after this last holida season I find that I never went back! I am up higher than I've been in a LONG time, and am depressed because it's all ending up in my problem zones (those saddlebags I refer to as "my aliens") and my clothes don't fit!

i too have tried this method and have had great success but my "refeeding is planned" every tuesday i refeed my body.. and every thursday when i weigh im usually down a lb to 2 lbs

Ok...so I want to try and refeed. This is my 10th day of no inches or weight coming off and I haven't changed anything!!! Grr!

Would eating a chinese entree be considered refeeding? I could deal with gaining back a few pounds if they started coming off regularly again.

I guess I don't understand how to refeed. Add more carbs or eat something forbidden? If so, how much forbidden stuff?

anyone? Beuler? Anyone?

well i try not to eat forbidden food, but if its a must.. like say DBF wants to go to pizza, then i'll eat one slice with crust. the rest with out and maybe get croutons on my salad to add a few carb..and REAL soda... ... then the next day i go back on my wol with extra water and im safe

Okay, so I wanted to mention that I did a "refeed" or blowoff meal tonight for dinner. I DID eat sensibly. Did not stuff myself or go nuts.

I had:

A few bites of my husband's Pad Thai.
A couple sips of Thai Iced Tea (pretty sweet, also has cream/milk)
Stirfry broccoli & chicken with about 1.5 cups of nonsticky white rice & peanut sauce.

It was all very delicious, but I *must* say that it felt like I was eating goop. I guess I haven't missed eating plate-fulls of stuff that turns to mush the second it meets your saliva.

I did a ketostick a couple of hours after this meal and it was still pink. I realize this could change by tomorrow... and yes I think I'm BRACED to see the scale go up when I wake tomorrow. But hell if this starts the losses again, I'm prepared for it!
