Default Advised to go low fat by Dr.

My Doctor just called, they want me on a low fat diet. MY A1C is 4.7, my other values are listed below. I put them in an online calculater and these were the results. They were also concerned that my urine test showed protein 43.4. This number is so high that they want me to submit another sample.

Your Total Cholesterol of 213 is BORDERLINE
Your LDL of 131 is BORDERLINE
Your HDL of 60 is NORMAL
Your Triglyceride level of 109 is NORMAL

RATIOS:
Your Total Cholesterol/HDL ratio is: 3.55 - (preferably under 5.0, ideally under 3.5) GOOD
Your LDL/HDL ratio is: 2.183 - (preferably under 5.0, ideally under 2.0) GOOD
Your triglycerides/HDL ratio is: 1.817 - (preferably under 4, ideally under 2) IDEAL

Your lipids and ratios look good to me and A1C is stellar. More Info on lipid numbers in the two stickies and other threads here.
If doctor is so concerned about protein in urine, are you now going to have a blood test to check kidney function, protein/creatine ratios, etc? Not sure how accurate a "dipstick" test is versus the serum tests?
Dr. Rosedale, who advocates lower protein levels than some low carb programs, uses the protein/creatine ratio as a way to check if his clients are overdoing the protein a bit much. As you know, low carb should be Moderate protein and high-fat but it is easy to over-do the protein. A few times my ratio was high so knew I had to cut back on protein. Also be sure you are not dehydrated, which is common on low carb, as that can throw off those tests for kidney function.

I see nothing wrong with your cholesterol. Your A1c is stellar. Chances are your doctor has never seen one so low in an adult.

The protein in urine is worrying. I would definitely double check how much protein you're eating. Is it possible you had some undiagnosed kidney issues before starting LC? Diabetes frequently does kidney damage and it does it quietly.

Here's a good place to figure out how much protein to eat: http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

Read up on my cholesterol/statin articles if you think you'll be having that battle with your doctor.

BTW: I looked at your last posting of cholesterol and the current results are vastly lower, especially triglycerides. What is your HDL?

I always get copies of all tests and reports and keep them in my own binder so I can do my own research. I'm nerdy that way.
