I'm not going to cheat - but I really want to eat something bad. Ice cream, cereal with milk, something to make me feel like I'm on cloud 9 for a while. That's the problem though, it will only last for a while, and that's why I'm not going to do it. It sucks being in this place though. I feel really low.

I've found that it helps a bit to think about the reasons why I'm doing this when I have those moments. In the past, it has been so easy to just let those moments and cravings take over and give in without giving it much thought.

That said, it still sucks!

Well done for not giving in to those cravings

When I started Atkineering I would keep a stash of Brie cheese handy as it felt that slowly savouring a piece of that was nothing like being on a restrictive diet.

Atkins foods can be pretty pleasing. One thing I like, I don't think it's the best nutrition, but it satisfies cravings without hurting ketosis much, is buttering pork rinds. Or you could microwave a bit of cheese with some mushrooms, olives, pepperoni or other meat and call it pizza topping. The most important thing early on isn't losing weight or maintaining a calorie deficit--these can be encouraging, but what really matters is getting yourself acclimated to the diet. Don't think of what you can't have--the best way to do this isn't to spend time thinking about not thinking about carby treats, it's distraction, think about what you can have.

Just stick to it, and it's likely there will come a time when a fatty pork chop will look more appealing than something carbier.
