This is an excellent question and and a great excercise in learning how to read labels and count carbs

Here's the nutrition panel for Flax-O-Meal Hot Cereal, Cinnamon and Spice:

Total Calories 127
Total Fat 5.5 g
Total Carbohydrates** 11 g
Dietary Fiber 10 g
Protein 11 g

**Deduct dietary fiber from total carb count to achieve Actual Carb Count. This product would be 12-10 equals 2 carbs.

Ingredients: Wheat bran, flax seed meal, isolate soy protein, cinnamon, nutmeg, flavorings and salt.

Is there anything you see on the nutrition panel that would or would not make it a good choice?

Karen

the truth is i don't see anything that would make it not acceptable to disregard flax meal from being eaten in PP. It's a great source of fiber and flax seeds are have great nutrion components. Good source of vitamins too.

thanks

Default queries for Karen please

Hi Karen,

Could you please tell me whether it is possible to just substitute other flour for all purpose in any cake/biscuit etc recipe?
I really like the taste of almond flour best of all. That would be my first preference!
Which of the non grain flours (soy or oat or almond) would be the mildest tasting. Would baking powder have to be used for rising with all of them?
Is Splenda the best of the subsitutes do you think in terms of taste?
Many thanks for your expertise and support. Sally
