Default The Amazing Human Body- new PBS program

THe S1:E1 "Grow" is an amazing new view on the growth of the human body.
One topic is teens eat huge amounts of food, which is read by the GI and encourages more eating. THat more eating triggers their teen growth spurt. When the body is fat enough, the growth spurt is triggered. Puberty is triggered.

The show looks at why the growth rate of an 8 year slows down, because at the same time the brain activity jumps and needs the extra energy that cannot be spared for growth. And points out that this high level of energy remains thru out life.

This episode opens with tracking a man , Lou, as he tackles the Alcatraz triathlon at an advanced age. Pointing out the endless growth and cell replacement that allows for full activity thru out our WHOLE life. This is the start of a story of how we grow and restore the body from birth to old age.

What we eat matters.

Look for it on your local public TV station.
