Newbie Here Saying Hello
I'm Dell, and I just got serious about low carbing last week. My hubby is diabetic, recently put on insulin, and last week his doctor wanted him to go to an endocrinologist to find out why his sugar levels remain high. Ummmm maybe it's the biscuits, cornbread, sugar free cookies with 15 grams of carbs each? I got hubby to agree to low carb for one month, and if his levels aren't lower then we would get him scheduled with an endocrinologist. So I have a partner in this! We both need to lose 75-100 pounds.
So I've been doing this about a week now, and have noticed some definite changes. I'm not so much a carb counter at this point as cutting out the things I know are high carb - corn, breads, sugar, etc. So far I've lost four pounds in a week, and I'm not complaining about that. It didn't jump on me overnight, and it won't leave that quickly either.
But there are weird changes as well. Suddenly I'm noticing less congestion in my sinuses. And even when it's 73 degrees in the house (when I would normally be bumping the thermostat so the a/c would come on), I'm chilly. Hubby has noticed that as well.
The really good things: I've had no cravings for sweets. I haven't been hungry. And best of all for this hypoglycemic, my blood sugar has stabilized. It hasn't suddenly dropped dangerously low since I've been doing this. Definitely a good thing!
Ok, sorry for being so chatty on my first post. I'm looking forward to knowing you all, and having a support group in this.
