That's great! Well done!

Better get shwarma, Evelyne, just don't eat the pittah, it comes in.

Thanks for any ideas?

Cans of salmon or sardines
hard-boiled eggs
cubes of yellow cheese
pre-cut salad of tomato, cucumber, red, green or yellow peppers with a few olives or unroasted walnuts (Pitsuchim has those) and a (apple) vinegar-olive dressing (NO mayo!)

You could also bring a cold unit from a portable freeze-box, or just keep chicken and other meat in a regular freeze-box.

...is what I can think of, off the top of my head.

Hang in there, Eveline!!! You're on your way!

Sounds good evelyne, hang in there!
How about a protein drink. I take the powder with me and add water and flavor. You loose a lot of weight just by all the shaking it needs!

What protein shakes can you find in Israel? I confess that I have never tried one.

Enter any health food store. I use egg protein powder since it is parve, but I have used whey in the past.

Default What to feed toddlers

So my DD is now at the age where she is given food from various people. There is a national brainwashed misconception that Bamba is a healthy must for babies. What do you feed your kids as treats and snacks, and what do you give them at birthday parties?

Gonna try and kick start this thread again.
Moved to Haifa and been getting great work outs along with a tight LC way of eating. Seeing some great results, even at age 55.

Hey good to hear from you! At least you are still reading ALC!
It IS hard to keep up because it is a dteremined life style change. The hardest thing for ME here in Israel is that just when I am getting some momentum there is a chag to undermine all my efforts.
Sometimes I just have to bring my own food.
EVERYTHING good in Israel is delicious and HIGH CARB.

hi- I still watch this thread and I have been sticking to the plan for years. I am lucky that I was able to adjust to it as a life style in Israel. I am now in the USA for the last 3 months- 2 more weeks before I come back to Israel. It is so much harder to keep to the plan in the USA. EVERYTHING is coated, drowned in gravies, deep fried and more. so many traps, so many temptations. They do have a couple of EXCELLENT options, though, that I have never found ini Israel Maybe someone there knows where I can get the following when I get back without having to become a farmer and grow my own! Jicama, Sugar snap peas and spaghetti squash! take care and keep on trying- you just need the willpower. Linda

Bringing your own food on a Hag is a good solution. Some Hagim (like Hanukkah) has no low carb version, and here on this thread we should put our heads together and put together some good recipes. I don't find it hard to do LC at all. Most cafeterias serve meat and veggies, I just skip the rice and couscous. I buy a Shawarma and throw away the pita, at friends houses they usually serve "Pizuhim", nuts, along with the cookies.

Default My "brillant" idea

And doing well! Although slowly. But I definitively lost 3.6kg in 124 days (quote from my application). It's not a lot, it's going slowly, part of it because of age, part of it because of not exercizing, but it's going slowly. And i'm also saving money, because I don't buy food "outside" while in work. I solved my logistic problem by putting boxes in the freezer at work, so I don't have to prepare at the last minute what to take to work. We prepare, generally during the week-end food: chicken with green beans, Bruxelles sprouts, zucchini etc., I freeze it into boxes and leave it in the workplace's freezer.
The "brilliant" idea was to prepare a few boxes alltogether, so I don't have the problem everyday but once in a week!
I saw the group in Hebrew and join its FB page. Come all of you!

I can't stand FB, I don't know if I will join it.
Evelyne - something doesn't sound right, I don't think age should cause you to be so slow. As I understand from Taubes, exercising is good for health, but is not beneficial for weight loss, so not exercising is irrelevant. I see you are doing Atkins how many carbs do you eat daily? I am looking at your list of food - I don't see good fats added. Brussel sprouts are high carb, I eat them rarely. I am not sure about green beans, it is a bean so it is 3.5g carbs and zucchini is a fruit so it is also around 3.5. Maybe you should try lower carb veggies and adding more fat. Are you full after a meal for at least 4 hours? That is how I know I ate properly. Have you looked for hidden carbs?
I think your idea is wonderful! It sounds like a great solution for you! Saving money is the best benefit of your plan! kudos!
