Unhappy Small victories

I am recovering from the flu.....had my flu shot.....but none the less got the flu, type B. Anyway, when I went to my doctor she weighed me as usual - I was too sick even take my shoes off for the weighing -- but I had lost a few pounds.

Then the BIG victory.......when the nurse came in to take my blood pressure she took the regular cuff which was attached to the wall and it fit! I was shocked and secretly proud......here at last was proof that my arms had shrunk.....always before the nurse will begin to fit the cuff around my arm, then take it off and go get the LARGE cuff.....not today! I fit in the regular cuff and my blood pressure was excellent!......and it fit over my blouse sleeve!

OK....my second triumph was that I finally weighed under 220......even if it was only 219.....its another milestone for me. I'm not too quick to claim this weight loss since I'm sure some of it is due to the flu, but I'll take it.

Anyway.......I just wanted to share how good it felt to fit into the regular blood pressure cuff.....a small victory, but one neverless!

You claim every single one of those victories, and you relish them!

I well remember the pleasure I took when my GP was finally able to stop using the ENORMOUS cuff which he had to get out of a drawer. Other people just don't understand that particular embarrassment, and I am so happy for you that it is now a thing of the past for you too!

And I'm sure that 219 will stick, although more importantly, I hope you feel a lot better soon!

NSV's are soooo exciting! To me, it's 'shopping' in my own closet, wearing clothes I haven't worn IN TEN YEARS since 2005 (before my eight YO daughter was born). And also being able to go up/downstairs without terrible knee pain. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Christina and Roz.....I am feeling better but the cough is hanging on tight. My appetite, which had gone with the flu is back and food tastes good again.

msmum....you are so right about shopping in your closet.....I am beginning to find clothes I can wear again and it feels good. Stairs are easier now and hurt less......but still a challenge.

Now ........to keep it going.

The small victories are worth everything. They keep us going, bring a smile to our face, give us such satisfaction with ourselves

Thanks Patricia......You are one of my inspirations...your weight loss journey has been helpful to me to read. I know your goal is 146, which is probably where mine should be....I set my goal at 150. I have another 69 pounds to go to get there. Sometimes it seems like it will never happen....then I read a success story like yours and get inspired. Thanks!

Another small victory......remember when you could wrap a towel around you when getting out of the shower? I haven't been able to do that in many years....even with the larger bath towels that are like beach towels.......but now I can...with the larger towels. It may sound small, but its HUGE to me

70 more pounds to go!
