From what I understand, it is what they are calling the Meat & Egg Life Program on the general low carb forum. The lady's screen name is Kimmer and this is her version of Atkins, so it became Kimkins. Here is an excerpt from the post for that program:

Quote:
The basics of the Experiment and Kimmer’s Experience

The purpose of the "experiment" is to show how 'real' ketosis feels ... no appetite, excellent weight loss. That the carbs are very, very low or 0 is key. This is what Dr. A was talking about in Induction! When we severely restrict carbs, our bodies (who DON'T want to use body fat for energy!), will go to the glycogen in our livers. When that's used up (3 days roughly), it's like a flood gate is opened and our bodies give up a lot of extra water ... that's the 3-7 pounds people lose in the first few days. Actually I did Stillman's for 3 days to get into ketosis ASAP (I am deathly afraid of being hungry!) The difference between this "experiment" and Stillman's is picking any protein you like ... Stillman's is "lean" only. Then I moved onto Atkins Induction and stayed for 6 months (<20 carbs, no 'treats') and with zero appetitite, I was fine eating relatively few calories. However, if I were going to do it today, I would have stayed on Stillman's the whole time ... easier, less cooking/shopping, faster. The quantities of veggies I was eating wasn't enough to seriously contribute nutritionally ... IMO, of course. The downside for many would be boredom, but I'm not bored at all losing 4-7 pounds a week!

Kimkins is what someone termed how I lost my weight ... my version of Atkins: · <20 carbs (no fiber subtraction) · 70-90 gm protein, · just enough fat to make your menus work absolutely no LC treats! Some people have never experienced what I term 'real' ketosis with the strong appetite suppression (OK, nausea) and very rapid weight loss. This is a chance to see what it's like.
Warning - not everyone likes the feeling, even if you're losing faster than scientifically possible (per the 3500 calorie deficit = equals 1 pound theory). I lost 160 pounds in 7 months, then took 3 months to do the last 20. Over the past 3 years I've lost a few more to equal 200 lbs total.

I use to post on the same LC board as Kimmer.

Her plan is a VERY clean, very lean version of the 1992 Atkins book.

She believes in the "if you're not hungry, don't eat" theory...even if that means your calories are extremely low(remember stats of lower than 800 calorie average days).

She boasts about "real" ketosis, again, into the if you're not hungry don't eat thing.

She's very inspirational and many have lost quickly on her version of Atkins.

I don't agree with dropping weight so fast, cutting calories dramatically and obviously, don't agree with the healthfulness of her plan.

Do you need to pay for it? Nope, it's almost all completly outline at lowcarbfriends.com.

Kimkins is eating meat and eggs only. That's it. The above poster is correct - you don't need a book, a DVD, a CD, or anything to do it. Just start eating meat and eggs only. And that is it.

And...it works great! I've been doing it a couple of months and have had awesome results.

That's a common misconception, but Kimmer is very clear that her plan is distinct from the meat and egg plan. The meat and egg plan does not limit fat, whereas Kimmer's Experiment (see second section below) is a 3 day protein only "fast" that is low fat. Kimkins, on the other hand, allows salads and limited veggies.

Here's the basics:

Rules for Kimkins and K/E

Here's the guidelines for Kimkins:

*Up to 20 total carbs (not 'net')
*Up to 3 cups salad type veggies or
*Up to 2 cups salad veggies + .5 cup 'cooked'
*70-90 lean protein grams
*No LC products, treats, junk or alcohol
*Just enough fat to make your menu work (don't overdo)

Here's the guidelines for the Kimmer Experiment (not M/E):

*As much lean protein as you desire
*Length of time is 3-5 days depending on how 'carbed up' you are
*Purpose is to experience 'real' ketosis (weight loss, no appetite)
*Useful as a springboard for other LC programs
*No alcohol, no cheese
*Basic condiments and spices OK (watch catsup & A1 sauce)

Thanks for posting this information.

Do you know if the 20 total carbs includes the 3 or 2 cup of salad veggies + .5 cup cooked? or is that separate?

I am in total agreement with the NO LC products!!! This is a very big deal!!!

That includes the salad.

She does not "net". Her theory is, though, that you'll go into "real" ketosis and be barely eating anything. Shes more into the lean meats rather than pushing the veggies...getting as close to 0 as possible. "If you're hungry, take a long hard look at your carbs ... that's where hunger comes from."

Keep in mind that she keeps fats at "just enough to make your menu work".

To me, I'm hungry without enough fat.

She's also huge into fasting.

It includes the salad and veggies listed on the plan. A bit too stringent for me, but from following the threads on Low Carb Friends for a couple of years, it's obvious that it works for folks who can stick with it. Kimmer lost 170 lbs in about a year eating this way. She's one disciplined puppy!
