Default Talk to a Diabetic and Change Your Mind!

Years ago after my mom (God rest her soul) was found to be diabetic she went the route of the diets her doctors put her on. All of them low fat and sugar but plenty of carbs. She could never figure out why she couldn't keep her blood sugars in control, she ate sugarfree this and that, tried to eat low fat etc to no avail and never felt good again.

Fast forward years later I found I was diabetic! Well after alot of depression, and crying and feeling like s**t everyday I was bound and determined to not go on any pills, to do it myself. Thank you to whatever guided me to pick up an atkins book and read it cover to cover!
After that I got and kept my A1C in the normal range! I am not thin by any stretch of the imagination but my glucose levels are normal and comparing lipid panels with my naturally slender husband who is not diabetic and I am the winner hands down!

Yes you need to exercise, everyone does, but we were made to eat everything including meat!
If I became a vegan I might as well put myself in for an amputation and a insulin pump because my blood sugars would go wild.
I have veggies and fruits but just have to know which ones effect me and which don't and its all trial and error.
Don't foster your vegan ways on us and we wont foster our low carb lives on you.
People that abandoned Atkins when it fell out of favor for the new diet of the day were posers anyway and most likely did not need to be on a low carb diet in the first place!

So yah, talk to a low carbing diabetic and see how it has changed thier lives for the better.
Also being the fattest person in the room doesn't make you the most unhealthy either.
As my grandma would say, stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

What a big fat waste of time....
It made me think of a good friend from my past who started following the vegan religion after being converted in bed one night by a prophet. I remember being shocked six months later when she was 35 lbs. heavier and seemed to be foggy headed and irrational. We drifted apart - not because of what she ate - but because of her personality change..... poor girl - all this time I thought she was desperate for a man - maybe she was just hungry?

Default Little projects

As we all know, people are regularly abused on the internet.

Among them there are people who are challenged by doing "little projects". These projects consist of appearing on forums where they try to shock people by some strong, provocative words, after which they lean back and laugh their heads off with their friends about the inevitable serious reactions.

It gives them the feeling of empowerment. They usually lack that in real life and they crave for attention. And now they get it in abundance.

I think this "Piet" has had his laugh...

this person reminds me of a person I ran into on another site. She called me a "animal abuser" because I slaughtered my own meat.

Me. Being a religious person believe God gave us animals to eat. Yes its wrong to be a glutton, but non the less Jesus and all prophets before him ate meat. They set the example, so are people like this say Jesus and all the prophets were wrong?

I'm sure this person is laughing at 18 pages of response. I doubt that anyone here could persuade this person differently, so let's just agree to let the thread die here.

This site religious? And that comes from a man that blatantly ignores all the scientific argumentations that have been given by Taubes and Eades (among others)?

Piet is the fundamentalist here, not us. Goes to show what carbs can do to a man!
