Default I had a bit of the SBD flu, with lethargy!

I'm doing better now. I can't wait till Phase II! Can I have oatmeal squares on P2?

Good that you're feeling better.

What are oatmeal squares?

You can have old fashioned oats, steel cut or rolled oats.
You will need to steer clear of any other types or cereal treats as they most probably have added sugar.

First week of phase I is best adding 1 fruit serving per day only and no grain yet.

You will need to start reading all ingredient lists looking for added sugar like this:

Quote:
Ingredients
WHOLE OAT FLOUR, WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, BROWN SUGAR, SUGAR, MALTODEXTRIN, MALTED BARLEY EXTRACT, MOLASSES, SODIUM BICARBONATE, SALT, CALCIUM CARBONATE, REDUCED IRON, SODIUM ASCORBATE, YELLOW 5, NIACINAMIDE*, ZINC OXIDE, BHT (A PRESERVATIVE), VITAMIN E ACETATE, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, YELLOW 6, THIAMIN MONONITRATE*, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE*, RIBOFLAVIN*, FOLIC ACID*.

These are the ingredients for these oatmeal squares. They are not an acceptable way to eat grain on South Beach. Sorry!
