Default Any Goals for Remainder of 2016??

Instead of having a New Year's goal (or goals), I decided to start right now! Anyone else interested in having a specific focus over what are traditionally food-centric holidays?

My goal is to lose 13 pounds by Jan 1, 2017. That will put me at the magic 199 weight.

I know to some of you that's kind of a lame goal, because you lose that much in two weeks, but I've been struggling to hit 3-5 pounds a month. With the holidays coming up, 13 pounds in a month and a half will be a HUGE (pardon the pun) challenge.

Anyone want to post an end-of-year goal? Let's GO!!!

Hummm interesting thought!!!

I have been loosing 2ish pounds a week...
There is approximately 12 weeks till New Years..
so my goal for January 1, 2017 is to weigh 136!
If I go lower that would just be a gift hehe!

Edit: I don't know how I got 12 weeks til January 1, 2017 lol
Sooooooooo new goal based on 7 weeks...hummm
140 is what I'd love the scales to read New Years Day!

Only 7 weeks till New Years, give or take a day. But even if you lose 14, you'll be in the 130's!

Mine, in the countdown to the Holidays thread, is to hit goal. As I'm doing my usual bouncing, we'll see...

We just got told our jobs have been eliminated, and we need to apply for other jobs. Today I've eaten a cupcake and cake, and noodles. My head feels all buzzy, I have a headache, and my eyes feel wonky. I haven't had actual sugar (except the occasional piece of fruit) since January 1. Holy cow - I do NOT miss this! Back to overindulging on plan food only!!! YIKES! Bad carbs are really BAD.

Oh, Tracy! What a terrible time of year for such news! Not that there's a GOOD time for it, of course!

In a way, it's good that you feel so rotten. It reinforces just how poisonous that junk actually is, doesn't it?

Wishing your a speedy time finding the new job of your dreams!

I will tell you the truth - the carb overload was actually worse than the job news! We can bid on some other jobs, and I think I have a pretty good shot. My carb-wallow was limited, and did prove a good point to myself. I will splurge on filet and loaded cauliflower if I'm depressed again!! Thanks for the good thoughts!

I'm only losing about 4 pounds a month right now, so If I could get to 180 I would be thrilled. I may not make it, though, and that's okay. Every little bit of small progress is still progress. I keep hitting these mono-plateaus (for a week or two) -- then finally I drop another pound or so. Biggest change is in my clothing sizes, so one goal is to be able to wear my old ski jacket (which I couldn't even get close to squeezing into let alone getting the two sides of the zipper to meet). I can get it done up now, over a fleece sweater, but it feels just a tad tight around the hips so I'm hoping to lose another inch by the time ski season starts in mid-December.

Such a great goal, Andante! I haven't skied since well before my accident in 2014, because I was dx'ed as having osteoporosis in 2011. Since then, I managed to literally walk it back to osteopenia, so this year will be THE year. I gave away my ski jacket last winter, as it was both too old and too big. The Columbia down one I bought, that was a little snug last year, is a little loose this year.

More for you to look forward to!

EXCELLENT perspective - "every small bit of progress is still progress". So very very true! I hope you are both skiing safely and in comfy clothes in the new year!

First, there are NO lame goals. You are you, don't compare yourself to others.
Second, I think I mentioned in my journal last week, this time last year I got back on the bandwagon, I didn't have any particular goal... I just didn't want to go through another holiday season and gain! I was down ten pounds from mid-November to the New Year. DOWN ten instead of being UP ten... I was happy with that! So even though we're heading towards the holidays, anytime is a good time to start, re-start, get back on the bandwagon...whatever! A person could do a lot of damage in six weeks, running amok!
Third, what an awful time of year to get bad job news! Glad you got right back on track though.... Hope it continues and things work out, both food-wise and job-wise.

I so totally agree with Mickisue & FatFree!!!

Any loss is a loss & comparing yourself with another is not a good idea because everyone is sooooooooo different!

I am thrilled to see even .1 lower on my scale!

So count all loses as a win!

And focus on ALL the positives LC eating gives your health!

I too have gained during the Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years holiday weeks &
it feels really awful to wake up New Years Day to see those extra pounds on the scale!
So I am not letting that happen this year! No way!
Plus the thought of having to go through carb withdrawal again is enough to keep me from giving into the "oh just one bite won't kill you" issues!

Let's all put on our LC game faces & helmets & cruise through this year's holiday season without regret!!!

Ok - so since things are going to change so drastically at work in the new year, my NEW goal for the remainder of 2016 is to 'maintain, don't gain'. I will then start afresh with a renewed dedication to this wonderful and healthy LC way of life.
