Default Helpful books, videos and podcasts

Does anyone think it might be a good idea to have an extra section of the forum which has suggestions for books, videos, podcasts, etc.?

I have had a huge amount of enjoyment and motivation from listening to Jimmy Moore's podcasts and watching the Beowulf videos on YouTube and some people probably don't realise the wealth of resources out there.

I've also been thinking recently about how some people have problems with depression, low self-esteem and other issues, which directly affect their diet. Many people are helped with these issues by techniques learned from books.

The submenu could be a bit like the recipe section and could include topics like:

General low-carb
Paleolithic diet
Dietary approaches to ill-heath/medical issues
Low-carbing in pregnancy
Stress
Self-esteem
Binge-eating
Depression
Motivation and Inspiration

What do people think?

Thanks for responding. If enough people think it's a good idea, then the forum creator might consider it, I guess.

Thanks. I agree about Jimmy's podcasts.. He has such a pleasant way of bringing out the best in the people he interviews, he's always on the ball, and so well-informed, plus he doesn't bring his own ego in at all, but lets the experts do all the talking. There are, however, over 500 now, so it would be great to have links to particular ones which deal with specific topics.

I think we should have a few "Sticky" threads at the top of each diet section. One for recommended books, websites, blogs, movies, etc. and then one for recommended food lists.

These are such common questions and it would be nice to be able look at these lists for inspiration when needed or point them out to people who need help and to add to them whenever we find some other new and wonderful book or food.

Note: It would be helpful if each individual diet had a list for media and for foods since many of the diets vary and not everyone reads each section if it doesn't pertain to their WOE.

That's why I thought that if there could be a section for books, videos, podcasts etc. it could have a sub-menu for different issues, etc.

I agree! This is a great idea. I know it would be work on the forum side. I volunteer for some of the drudge work (from SQL to typing) if needed.

Great idea! Media section. Please. Under Focus Groups?

This could get confused with Media Watch, if called "Media".

Thanks for your replies.

I've just been listening to a fantastic one of Jimmy Moore's podcasts:

http://www.thelivinlowcarbshow.com/...cience-of-slim/

It's just a shame not to be able to post about different books and so on which deal with specific issues around weightloss.

Anybody know who we'd need to ask to have a sticky thread for "Books/Websites/Blogs/Videos and other Media" and one for "Foods" (Grocery list and other food suggestions) at the top of each section in the Daily Low Carb Support?

Ok, I asked in the Comments Box and Technical Questions section at the bottom of the main page. If you think this is a good idea maybe you could add your agreement (or additional comments) to it: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=441714
