Default Does Your Body Need A Rest Day?

So here is what my routine looks like:

Monday - Walk 2mi in the morning - Push Weight Training Evening
Tuesday - HIIT Morning - 1hr Bicycle Evening
Wed - Walk 2mi in the morning - Pull Weight Training Evening
Thursday - HIIT Morning - 1hr Bicycle Evening
Friday - Walk 2mi in the morning - Lower Body Weight Training Evening
Sat - HIIT Morning - 1hr Bicycle Evening
Sun - OFF

So I want to make my sunday my off day, does our body need a day off? I mean I like walking in the morning its soo nice outside and it helps lift my day off, plus I'm worried if I stop I won't start again..

Thanks

Rest days are good, but it's very much dictated by the amount of work you put in on the other days. I can't tell from your routine just how hard you're working, but it's entirely possible that you could do some walking on Sunday as well without a problem. If you enjoy it and it helps you to stay on track, then do it. I would probably limit the walking to less than the normal distance and keep it casual.

Rest days are very important. Over exercising is not good and may even be worse than not exercising. Overexercising weakens the immune system, increases insulin resistance and depletes the body of important minerals and nutrients. (According to the Eades in Protein Power Life Plan, and many research studies they list.)

You will know if your overtraining, you will start to feel tired and generally pretty crappy. Listen to your body, if you feel ok doing it go for it.

I think it depends on how hard you are working and your body's capacity to heal. I would certainly think you could do something easy and gentle on Sunday, but even if your body takes it well, sometimes it's good just to rest your mind. If I were you, maybe I'd find something physical but social to do like a group hike or a stroll with a friend.

Don't worry about walking...but do not weight train the same muscle groups 2 days in a row. When we lift, we create all these little tears in our muscles, and when they heal, the muscle is larger....without a rest day, you will do more harm than good, as the muscles don not have a chance to heal.

i've gotten sick from overworking. My body couldn't handle it and i had a fever for a few days. I was doing 6-7 days straight, 2-3 hour sessions.

So for your body's sake take that sunday off.
