Default PP v PPLP

I thought I was ordering PPLP via Amazon but the vendor sent PP instead (which I already had, but it is a bit of a mess since I dropped in the tub when I was reading it so I'll keep it).

Question: is there a huge difference between PP and PPLP and should I make the effort to track down PPLP? My local Barnes and Nobles didn't have it in stock, so I will have to order it.

Thanks in advance for the answer!

Yes, please do make the effort. PPLP goes into more depth, and has some great details on the hows and whys of good health and nutrition.

Thanks! I'm sparring with the Amazon vendor as we speak and will attempt to order the book again!

Another change in PPLP is calculating your minimum protein requirements. No measurements as in PP, just a height/weight chart based on gender. I agree, lots of good info, especially the magnesium chapter.

Yes, as Daryl said you really do want PPLP. The Eades have said it's the book they wanted to write the first time.

If you do PP calculations for minimum protein requirement they come out lower (usually) than the chart in PPLP. My experience is that eating the minimum from PP does not curb my hunger the way the PPLP minimum does.

And my experience is that trying to always eat the minimum from PPLP made me bored and feeling like "oh, no, I have to eat MORE protein but I just want a salad right now." Some days I eat that much, but other days I'm quite satisfied with less protein.

I wish the Eades had put the calculations into PPLP, in addition to the charts. I feel like I need to purchase a copy of PP just for that formula.

I did the calculations from PP and came up with about 72 grams for my minimum. This seemed low to me... what would PPLP say?

The nasty vendor from Amazon won't return my emails (I'm only out $6.00, but it's the principle of the matter). I'm trying to order PPLP again.. mean vendors have made me gun-shy!

Thanks for the help. I think I'm officially in a stall now -- no changes in weight or measurements for over six weeks. It's frustrating, but not unexpected.

Hey Chell, PPLP puts your minimum protein requirement at 27g per meal, or 81 per day. A little more than the PP calculations. Hope that helps!

And remember, minimum is just that -- minimum.

Thanks Snow and Liz!! I was at 88 grams yesterday, 91 the day before, so it's definitely NOT a problem to eat that much protein!

The bobohead vendor from Amazon finally emailed me yesterday and said he's sending me the CORRECT book. I went back and looked at his ratings and he's done that before, sent the older version of what was requested. More homework next time I purchase!

(and I'm down 2 1/2 lbs, to a new low of 147 today! Yay for eating everything on the planet yesterday as a precipitant to a visit from the Whoosh Fairy!)
