Exclamation just saved my butt

Hello to all...

I wanted to let you know that finding this forum probably just saved my butt. I hadn't monitored my bg since the diagnosis of low blood sugar last year. Then, I carefully documented my sugars over a few weeks until I was able to guess what my bg was by how I felt. Those numbers also taught me what to eat, how much, and when. I was doing great until about four months ago.

Frustrated by the fact that what was helping was beginning to make me feel worse, I sought out this forum. Yesterday, I went to get another monitor (couldnt' find my other one) so I could compare some numbers with you. I took the first reading when I hadn't eaten hardly a thing and was feeling as I do when my sugar is way, way down. Imagine my shock to see that it was up!

Apparently, I've crossed some sort of invisible line somewhere. The doctor told me it might happen eventually, but I was thinking 'years' instead of 'months'. Constant monitoring for the last 36 hours has revealed that *nothing* I do induces low bg. It's all I've been able to do to keep it remotely close to 'normal'.

I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but I'm incredibly relieved. After so many hypoglycaemic seizures over the years, I'm crying with relief that I no longer have to live with that constant threat. Could you possibly understand? Yes...I have new problems. My bg are really not high in the sense that I am full blown diabetic, but they're quite abnormal for me, and they certainly don't feel good. The bg switch is probably the source of the confusion and depression.

Thank god I came across you guys. I wouldn't have bought the glucometer otherwise! What a stupid mess I've been in without knowing it. When I felt weak and dizzy and shaky and my heart was racing before, it signalled low bg. So of course, when I've been feeling those things lately, I've been feeding and feeding myself in order to bring myself up. My god, no wonder it didn't work!

Thanks again, folks.
