Default Help me!

Hi Guys,

I'm doing Atkins, but I wish I understood Suzanne Somer's program. I would love to be able to eat fruit again.

By the way, I use to be an Automation Supervisor, where I wrote database and other complex programs and ran 6 networks with 40 end users. Now I've been a Paralegal for about 12 years now. But this plan I just don't get. Can anyone whose lost weight on this plan explain it to me in a simple way. Also, can you share a simple day's menu with me as well.

Thanks a bunch.

Rita......

You can actually eat fruit on Atkin's, just not during induction.

Hi Rita!

My wife is just starting Suzanne's program so we are watching videos every night. Her plan is a modified low carb plan, that does allow some amount of complex non-insulin spiking carbs and fruits. She stresses seperating food groups so for example when you eat fruit with a meal, it doesn't cause your steak to be turned into fat. There are 3 basic food groups:

Proteins/fats/vegtables (a list of specific veggies like peppers and onions)

Carbs/vegtables - whole grain carbs only (whole grain wheat, brown rice, etc)

Fruits

You can't mix food groups. A typical day might be:

Breakfast: mixed fruit

Lunch: whole grain pasta with marinara sauce

Dinner: chicken and veggie stir fry

Snacks: cheese, pepperoni sticks, nuts

I think it can be a good choice for some people like my wife, who doesn't like the strictness of Atkins

Default Funky Foods

Okay, so first I have problems taking Ms. ThighMaster/Three's Company seriously but when I was reading the book and she has a category of food she calls "FUNKY FOOD" - I'm afraid I can't take it as seriously as I should. I might take the fruit aspect of it, 30 minutes before or 2 hours after and add that to Atkins....but the whole Funky Food thing was just too much for me. And please don't think I'm trying to discourage anyone, it's just a personal opinion, nothing more.

Funky food is just a silly way of saying off limit food. If the concept makes sense to you the name semantic shouldn't matter. Why not try it? You could always stick a 1 week period of this into a traditional LC cycle just to give some variety. I also insert a week of carbohydrate addicts diet in when I get cravings for carbs
