Carbs are poison! I don't want to be argumentative, but Atkins induction doesn't require you to eat 20 grams of carbs a day..the goal is LESS than 20 grams.

If you can do a few days at zero you will find it much easier - carbs in our system are what cause our hunger. We need to get all the processed sugars out of our system and do a clean induction for two weeks. At that point your cravings will be gone and it becomes very easy to stay on this plan.

You are wasting your ketostix while eating 50 grams a day, as that will not put you into ketosis, the fat burning state we are all trying to achieve. You are either in or out...it's a yes/no situation.

I recommend you read Dr. Adkins book so you learn the science behind this plan. It is truly miraculous if you do it the right way.

Carbs are poison...the idea is to get your body metabolism to switch from a carb burning engine to a fat burning engine...and to do that you need to starve it of carbohydrates for a short time. It will never switch at 50 grams a day, and for some it is hard to get it to switch at 20. But once you get it to convert to burning fat instead of carbs, that is when you see the dramatic weight loss.

Good luck and please don't be put off by my preaching, I guess I am just such a true believer... we all want the same thing!

Too bad about the carb count on the mushrooms! I love them. I have never had the morels, but we have Shiitake mushroom logs and after two years of waiting, they rewarded us with about 20 pounds of yummy. Thank God it was before I started Induction, and knew better.

Yeah teledude, a couple of people have already set me straight on the 50 carbs. I had not decided to do Atkins at that time, but now I am keeping my carbs at 20 or less. (Today's carb count - 8.5!). And I am not put off my your enthusiasm at all! Keep it up Dude. :-)

But if I start to see a stall, I might need to adjust carbs/calories...something! So thanks for the heads up on that MissScruff.

And chermac, I just read the first part of your journal...you are an inspiration! Thanks for the advise. Right now I feel like I could eat eggs and cheese and beef forever, but I can see how that might start getting boring.

why do you have to miss morels? They are not that high in carbs and are loaded with fiber. Fry them up in some butter with a pork rind coating and they are delicious. We found our first batch 2 days ago. YUM!!!
