Default feeling bad

HI all

I have been doing SP now for about 6 weeks and wasn't having any problems til last weekend.

I got a bout of my Irritable bowel ( which I used to get all the time before lowcarbing ) , headaches and terrible cravings.

In fact I gave into the craving eventually and went to McDonalds and had a burger, fries, diet coke and ice cream sundae!!!!

I felt REALLY bad/sick/bloated/guilty all afternoon after that , as you can imagine.

I got back down to it on Monday and feel grand now.

Has anyone experienced this kind of thing? is this normal?

BTW I have lot 7 lbs so far and went to the gym last night for my assessment and have lost 2.5% of my body fat and 1/2 inch all over!
Thanks
Clodagh

Yes! Cravings are normal and something that you are ever completely "cured" of.

It sounds like you may have been disheartened and angry from the IBS flare up. If you have used food pre SP to make you feel better, this impulse will always come back in situations where you feel stressed.

Knowing it is half the battle. The other half is watching for triggers that make you want to eat. Take a deep breath, drink water, reach for a protein snack, call a friend, come to the forum. React from the best part of yourself and don't let the carb demon guide your choices.

Thanks Karen

you are 100% right. I was really annoyed to have IBS symptoms which I thought I had put behind me.

And then I ate stuff which I knew was going to make me feel terrible, but in the past used to make me feel comforted.

BTW, I was on hols in BC last September and it was the most amazing holiday of my life. We went to Tofino, which was incredible, and then did that train journey across the Rockies.
My fiance actually asked me to marry him in the middle of the ocean on the whale watching trip from Tofino!!!!!
We'd love to go back for the honeymoon but are getting married in Rome in October so we;ll stay there for the holiday afterwards. ( which will be of course lovely too!)

Anyway, it's an amazing place you live.

Clo
