Include fiber rich foods of 25gm or more of fiber. Sources, fresh fruits,/vegetable, 100% whole grain bread and cereal, dried beans. Foods rich in soluable fiber such as oatmeal, wheat bran, dried beans and peas have been shown to lower cholesterol.

For protein, choose eggs, seafood, poultry, lean meats or soy based alternatives. Trim all fat from meat and remove skin from poultry before cooking. *

Use skim and low fat dairy products.

Limit sat fat and trans fat (butter, lard, shortening) and replace with mono and poly fat.

Avoid high sodium foods like convenience foods, deli meats, pickled foods and cured meat (ham, bacon, kielbasi.)

* Apparently, their food service department doesn't follow this diet. They brought me a pork chop. Breaded, probably baked, not fried, hard as a rock, that had an inch thick rim of fat around the outside, which they did not "remove before cooking."

I was lucky, that due to fasting required before tests, I missed most of my meals.

Yup , it was as expected.

I assume you have altered this plan to a healthier version..... any discussion about coQ 10? When I had a stroke, the doctors seemed to not know what I was talking about.

Glad it will be somewhat easy for you at work. Hope nothing catches you off guard. I will struggle tonight too as some major stomach rumblings set in. It will be both a physical hunger and a head hunger for me. But I have learned in the past to just ride it out and it will pass!

I am 16 hours in. I had a rough morning. Got woken from a deep sleep and had to attend to a situation. It worked out, but of course the first thing I wanted to do was eat! I really wanted my omelet to help relax me. I wanted it for comfort. I was able to go outside those feelings and access the situation and knew I just had to make it a little while and I would be fine. I did!

We can do this!

Hi I am off work and the hunger feelings have come quite strong and frequent in the past hour. Dr J Fung mentions a hormone responsible for the hunger and says its actually a learned response and stops signaling us after we don't respond to it. I am heading home and will have to find things to do to occupy my mind. I am glad I have you on the other side, because I can feel the head hunger and just connecting with you provides a release.Talk again soon. hope your afternoon goes ok.
Yes Yes we can do this.

IF you cant ignore the grenlin, try drinking water to quell it, or eat a bit of very fatty something. Some thing on plan of course.

Almost 24 hours! I had a great day. Didn't have much physical hunger, but the head hunger hit hard a couple of times. So interesting about Dr. J Fung and the hormone responsible for the hunger. That makes sense, because if I can make it past the initial feelings/want, I am OK (till the next one!).

Stay strong tonight! This will be the hardest stretch for me too.

Let's both check in later.

YES...we CAN, and WILL, do this!

Hi Partner
Im not sure we are in the same time zone ..for me right now it has been 27.5 hrs. I am so energetic. The food must really sedate me. My bother called and he talked forever. That was a good distraction for me. I feel that I am almost home free on this now. The slave to food ..no more! How are you doing?

YAY for YOU....and ME. Glad you had a distraction with a phone call from your brother.

I went to the mall tonight to return something and walked around a little bit. I sat down in the middle of the first level and looked up to see what shops were on the second level. I have only been to this mall a few time. First thing I see......FOOD COURT! Oh great (rolling my eyes!). But I was not even tempted.

I will be going to bed in a little while, so I am quite confident I am going to make it.

Are you up for trying this again next week for one day?

K-Mom
