Default Just back from the docs!

I had a checkup yesterday, yes, a cholesterol test. I have long asked for (and received) tests for LpA, C reactive Protein, VAP -- LDL particle size and the other "stuffs" who's names I'm probably jumbling. Gee, it's gotta be about 7 years since I first read Colpo's book about cholesterol (yup I was a virgin before reading him, so-to-speak, BUT he had't yet taken up bullying; still, looking back, I does sorta bring shame).

Anyway, my Doc said "We no longer do those tests. We don't find them useful." I remember reading somewhere that LpA is probably the most useful test or indicator for CHD, and that there's no drug to lower it (or is it no evidence that lowering it is effective). You don't suppose drug companies are influencing what tests get used, do you?

Grrrrrrrr.

They don't find them useful or they don't find them profitable? And, yes, I agree that the drug companies absolutely influence where medicine goes, including testing.

You can always order tests you want on your own through an independent provider such as DirectLabs. They offer testing for Lp(a) CRP, VAP, NMR, homocysteine and more.
