Default Weight Lifting

I am interested to try PSMF, but I am broke and can't afford a book
I am wondering if anyone can answer some questions for me.
1) Do you have to do weight lifting on this diet? I have been doing fast uphill walking 20 minutes a day/ 3 times a week and I wanted to keep my routine (hate doing weights)
2) If I am not weight lifting, but doing yoga/pilates type work out 2 times a week, plus the uphill walking mentioned above, and my lean body mass is about 116-120 lbs with 26% body fat (female), how much protein am I required to eat?
3) How often do I get a free meal? And do I have to do refeeds and how often?
Tahnk you for all who can answer my questions

Don't use it but I think I'm going to try it for a week or two (single dose, certainly not 3x a day!)

This diet is so extreme I would suggest you not attempt it unless you read the book. There's too many things you need to take into account that are based upon individual factors. Worksheets you need to fill out, etc. We couldn't begin to advise you of everything that would relate in particular to you.

I'm sorry, but I don't feel it is safe to just go on it through hear-say.

I agree with Nancy. If you can afford to purchase only high-protein sources to eat, if you can afford the supplements required for this diet, then you should be able to purchase the book. I find myself reading and re-reading the book to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. As drastic as this diet is, I want to make sure I don't mess up my health or metabolism by not knowing what I should do, or possibly interpreting something someone else has said. Some of you may have noticed that I won't give any specifics - that is because everyone is different in the way they approach the diet, and what might be right for me won't necessarily be the right thing for you.

Please, don't mess with your health. Read the book before you start this, including the safety warnings and the 4 chapters on how to get off the diet.

Hi Nancy and Everyone else

I started psmf on Tuesday. I'm down 6lbs in 48 hours!! I've got another 25 lbs to go before I hit virigin territory. I managed to lose 58lbs on Atkins, stalled for months, diagnosed hypothyroid and managed to gain back 30lbs I'm really hoping that psmf can get that 30lbs off me fast and help me get back into some much lower numbers!

I need to go measure tonight too. I'd love to see how many inches get melted off with this plan!

Let's also not forget that the diet break is just as important as the diet. If you can't do the 2 week diet break b/c you don't believe in eating more than 100 grams of carbs/day, this program isn't for you.

You definately need to read the book to understand the complexity of this program. I wouldn't feel comfortable just dishing out the details either.

For those who don't want to/can't read the book, I suggest a simpler stall buster like Atkins KIS, Fat Flush, or Stillman's. The basics of Stillman's are posted in the "Plan Comparison" forum, and KIS is simply induction with no artificial sweeteners, dairy, or processed meats - plain meat, eggs, fat and LC veggies only.

I only recommend PSMF after you've developed a decent cardio and resistance training schedule of some sort. Being able to monitor one's workout performance seems to be an important aspect of knowing when to draw the line.

On the topic of EC - I'm a responsible user, but like many other issues in weight loss, YMMV. I have 8 mg ephedra capsules. One does nothing; two makes me too anxious and my heart races too hard. One and a half is perfect - I get a great workout, I have a ton of energy all day, and my appetite is diminished. It's often a matter of dose. Start very small.

I made/am making yogurt popsicles. I found this ice cream bar mold in my pantry, hadn't even taken it out of the box yet. Anyway, I mixed non-fat yogurt with various SF Syrup flavors, with a little extra liquid splenda, and layered them into the mold, stuck in the sticks. I used, pineapple, banana, black cherry and mint syrups.

Hopefully they'll make a nice treat!

Sounds interesting

Any more weight lost this week? I'm down 5.5 lbs from Monday, 199.5 this morning. Tonight is a free meal, though it will be mostly protein gonna grill some steaks Tomorrow will be a diet day and Sunday will be another free meal (hubby got to choose which day he fends for himself since I usually cook dinner on the weekends ).

I will probably be up a couple pounds tomorrow morning since I am thinking of having some garlic bread with the steaks (haven't had any of that in well over a year).

No, I'm still losing the water from my refeed/TOM bloat. I'm down 3.5 pounds of the 5 pound bloat. I hate how TOM really messes me up for about 2 weeks.

Hey, congrats on getting below 200! That's a huge accomplishment.

I had garlic bread on my refeed... oh my, it was delicious!

That sucks about the TOM bloat, luckily I usually only gain a couple pounds of water weight then. I'm still not regular so I never know when/if it's going to show up

Thanks for the congrats, but I've be over and under 200 so many times since December I feel dizzy

I am looking forward to some garlic bread. I am just going to get one of the cole mini-loaves, rather than the full 12-slice package. That way I can have half a loaf and my DH can, and it will be all gone. I will figure something else yummy but not over the top to have with Sunday's dinner. Though I am tempted to get a bag of chips and have half "with dinner" tonight and half Sunday

Debbie, the chip-a-holic

Okay, I'm officially stuffed now I couldn't finish dinner, either. Granted I had a pretty big steak, but usually I would have been able to finish it. Of course, I usually wouldn't have garlic bread with it either, at least not since I started low-carbing (pre-low carb is a different story ). The only things "free" in the meal were the amount of protein, the bernaise sauce (from the Knorr Mix, made with cream and butter ) and 3 slices of garlic bread with cheese.

I really wanted to eat more but I didn't have any room, hehe. Probably because my stomach is shrunk from the diet. The hard part is going to be what to do with the leftover meat with bernaise sauce on it. I really need to stay away from that now that the free meal is over. Maybe DH will eat it and the rest of the bread for lunch tomorrow.

Yum! That sounds fantastic. I know how you feel about the shrunken stomach. I still am misjudging my stomach capacity and sometimes eat more than I really can fit in there! My next free meal is sunday breakfast with my parents.

Default Free Meal

i just had my first free meal and i feel a little sick. it didnt taste as good as i thought it was going to, and, instead of helping me mentally (as is one of the main points of a free meal) it made me feel guilty, like i cheated.
anyway, i was just wondering what i should expect in the morning. i mean, has everyones weight gone up or stayed the same after a free meal?

I'm up 1.5 lbs this morning. Actually I expected more. Of course I also weighed *cough* before elimination *cough* since I didn't "go" until after I'd walked on the treadmill, drank about 20 oz of water and eaten breakfast. I'm sure most of that is water retention and the weight of what I ate last night However, I have no desire to go off the diet, I don't see that I will have any problem sticking to it today. I am even not having any trouble staying away from the leftover steak w/bernaise sauce. Usually that would be my breakfast the day after a dinner like that.

My poor tummy looked like I had swallowed a beachball after dinner. I'm hoping at least 1 lb of that gain will be gone in the morning since tomorrow is another free meal. I doubt I will eat as much but it will probably be carbier since DH wants fried chicken and I don't feel like cooking it, so I will probably get some from the grocery deli.

I picked up some sugar free strawberry jelly to put in my ff cottage cheese, hopefully that will make it taste better. Don't ever mix it with tuna

Debbie
