Thumbs up Sausage Stew

Sausage Stew

Forgive me, this is from memory & I tend not to really accurately measure things either. For example, I just kinda poured some mustard from the bottle and tasted it until I thought it tasted good, but I'm figuring it was about 1 tblspoon.

Fresh Sausage (I can't remember the kind we used - some weird sounding "H" kind)
4 Small Fresh carrots
a bunch of Fresh green beans, cut to bite size
1 can beef broth
1 can chick broth
Approx. 1 tbl. Gulden's Mustard (to taste)
Approx. 1 tbl. Fine Ground Mustard (to taste)
Salt (Jane's Crazy Mixed up Salt is what I used)
Fresh Ground Pepper

This was really a good recipe I morphed from an old MEAT cookbook. (That's what it's called, Meat Cookbook) The book called for green peppers (yuk) instead of beans & less beef broth. Also, it didn't include either type of mustard, but it did include adding extra breakfast sausage.

We all liked it. I'd put in less broth next time & add more & possibly different veggies. We also thought sauerkraut would be good with this.

What do yo do, just throw it all in a pot and let it simmer for an hour or two?

I agree about the sauerkraut! We love it!

Talking Oops....It would help to know that!

I cooked the sausage to pink inside first in a separate pan & then simmered all ingredients for about 20-25 minutes. This cooked the veggies through & finished off the sausage. I guess, depending on the types of veggies, the simmer time might vary. The carrots took a bit to cook through.
