Talking One week on Atkins lost 10lbs

Hi my name is Michele
I am new to this board having just found it yesterday.
I have done one week on the Atkins Diet and feel great i have lost 10lbs and my sticks are turning purple.
This is very exciting to me. I think like most of you i have been on every diet there is. Usually with little to no success. Atleast not long term. But i am really enjoying this diet.

I just wanted to introduce my self and Wish everyone much luck on the atkins diet.

Stay focused and strong.
Michele

Just want to add that not only am I impressed by the one week weight loss, but that you all decided to start Atkins on Thanksgiving week (Canberra doesn't count but sure you had other temptations) Best wishes to everyone on their chosen LC plan.
To understand typical weight loss patterns and percentage of weight lost progress on a LC diet, check out this article: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...99&page=1&pp=15

Don't you wonder how they are all doing now?

I dropped off this forum a couple of years ago. You know how it happens--just faded away. Big mistake. Drifting means denial (for me) and that means trouble for my LC commitment.

This time, I'm going to try to stick around. Good people. Good advice.

I also started in Thanksgiving week. Since it was only two of us for dinner it was easy for me to stay on track. Well never easy but I was not faced with the pies and what not.

I was on Atkins in the early or mid 70's. TOTALLY drifted off. Trying again. I did loose 5 pounds in the first week. I had been doing the low calorie low fat since August and lost 12 pounds and gained 6 back. Got frustrated= pissed and gave it up again. Now I am more determined. Doctor was happy with my overall weight loss which is 15 pounds since August when I last saw him. He was not upset I am doing Atkins as I feared he would be since my cholesterol was high. But he put me back on my thyroid meds in August and low thyroid can effect cholesterol. So I have hopes I am going to be in better shape pretty soon.

Boy are you right, Barbara! I have realized that writing down my food every day and coming around here regularly play major roles in success for me….AND…on that magic day when I reach my goal, I still have to come here to stay constantly accountable. I now know better than to think I won't at some time "lose it" and get carb creep….I have to be ever vigilant, I'm afraid. That's the way it is!
