Default Faux PHO...it came out good.

I made Faux PHO....the Vietnamese noodle soup.

I got the recipe (sort of) from foodwishes.com.

I used boxed broth and then mixed in real chicken broth from this mornings fried chicken drippings.

It's got fried cabbage, jalepenos, onions, trace carrots, bean sprouts, garlic, ginger and thinly sliced chicken and steak...and of course Shirataki noodles.

It's mostly broth as you can see; that, and noodles.

It was really good.

I have a recipe for the Pho broth (chicken). It's an all day cooking affair and you need some odd ingredients like star anise, but boy is it good! I've made it with "zoodles" (thin strips of zucchini) in place of the noodles and it was still great.

How are the shirataki noodles in the Pho? Does the broth cover up the odd flavor and texture?

I think that the noodles are really good, BUT...if you think that they are "odd" in flavor and texture...then i'm not sure.

I guess I don't see what people mean when they say that....

Have you tried looking for a natural foods store, that might carry spices in bulk? Then you could pick out just 1 or a few stars, instead of having to buy a whole jar.

Otherwise, Amazon?
