I think this is a war zone topic. IMO people that loose the weight this slow are cheating and dont even know it.

well clearly they aren't sticking to their diet. I am very close to my goal weight and this just last week and a half I lost 4 lbs from a STRICT low carb, high protein diet.

I'm not really sure why this should be an issue for anyone. Dr. Atkins states in his book that the last 5-10 pounds should be taken off very slowly (and I think that 1.25 pounds per month fits that description). Why? Because that means that the person is working towards maintainence while still losing and that's a very good thing. Why? Because once they reach their goal weight they will have a very good idea how they should be eating to maintain that loss.
Contrast that against the person who races to goal, staying on induction or near it the whole time. They may reach goal weight in record time but have far less of an idea how they should be eating to maintain that loss.
Don't kid yourself into thinking that once you reach goal weight that maintainence will be a piece of cake (no pun intended). Many people find the transition from weight loss to weight maintainence just as difficult as losing ever was, but taking it slowly and learning what you can and can't handle along the way can certainly make it much easier.

BTW, I should point out that after the first few weeks, weight loss slows down in nearly everyone. Take Vince here, for example. In the first 3 1/2 weeks, he lost 22 pounds. But in the next 4 he lost 12. I'd be willing to bet that the next 4 weeks will show it slowing even more. Cheating? Not likely, it's just how weight loss works. Most bodies simply can't sustain a weight loss of 5 pounds a week for a prolonged period.

Well Vince, hate to break it to ya, but I've only had ONE cheat in the past 4 weeks, and I've only lost 3 lbs in that time period. When I first started Atkins, I DID lose quite a bit every week, but now it has slowed considerably....and many who are fairly close to their goal weight have said the last few lbs are the hardest to get rid of.

I would LOVE to lose 1lb a week! But I haven't been, and it's NOT because I don't eat right or exercise.
