Coconut Oil
Has anyone found any solid information on coconut oil and heart disease?
The only thing I've found so far are the extremes:
1-older medical reports citing that since coconut oils are saturated fats, they are bad for your heart because bad LDL will go up.
2-coconut oil proponents who appear to be basing their opinions more on getting more sales. They say the fat is a medium chain triglyceride, and is a 'separate' form of saturated fat and will not contribute to heart disease.
I really would like to see some actual unbiased studies, but can't seem to find any at this time. If you know of any, please direct me to them.
I'd love to add more LC coconut products to my diet. One protein shake I've been buying bases their fats on coconut oils, and as a result, is simply the best tasting, most fulfilling protein shake ever. But I don't want to keep taking it, if its going to cause my body to generate bad versions of cholesterol.
