I go out for the night with some forum friends visiting, and look what happens when I'm gone for a few hours!

At this point, I don't think I have a problem with July 10 -- sounds good to me!

I personally don't think it would be a problem without a permit, but I know others may be more concerned. I also don't think it would be a problem to apply for a permit if the response for this is overwhelming.

What do others think?

Are BBQ's allowed in the park?

I'd like to join... if we have a picnic perhaps we can set up a game of volleyball or softball in addition to frisbee tossing.

If the picnic does not panout her are my indoor ideas

If we are in Midtown-
or how but lunch here: http://churrascariaplataforma.com/index_midtown.html
316 West 49th Street (Between 8th and 9th Aves)
(212) 245-0505

then we can walk to Bowling at the Port Authority a place called:
Leisure Time Bowling 625 Eighth Avenue, NYC. 212-268-6909

If we are Downtown-
http://churrascariaplataforma.com/index_midtown.html
ADDRESS: 221 West Broadway, Tribeca, New York, N.Y. 10013
then bowling at here:

As far as I know, bbq-ing is only allowed where they have them set up. There are none in Central Park that I know of, but there are in Prospect Park. Also Wards Island, which is kind of hard to get to, and some other parks scattered here and there.

I think Churrascaria Platforma is a great idea! If it were more convenient, I would say that we should go to Master Grill instead - also a churrascaria, bigger and a little cheaper, as I recall - but it's tucked in a corner of Flushing near Shea Stadium.

Lunch at Churrascaria Platforma and then something at Chelsea Piers sounds to me like it could be a lot of fun!

I LOVE the churrascaria idea. Good one! They are so cool. I just ate at one last weekend for the first time. Two thumbs up.

Bowling? I like it, but I am HORRIBLE. LOL.

"They're all gonna laugh at you!"

I hardly break 100. ROFL. I'm cool with the idea tho.

Trainerdan,

Re bowling: At least you know what your score is!!

And in terms of breaking 100 - do you break it by going up or down?

I went bowling at Bowlmor Lanes once, about 5 years ago. I even have a pair of the little ankle socks to prove it!

on edit: I don't mean to imply that I think bowling is a bad idea. I have had fun doing it, I just suck at it.

I love Master Grill too! (My Lil bro used to valet there, so there is parking) Its convenient by train the #7 (with a little walk) but I didnt put it out there since a few folks may be coming in by Metro North or NJ Transit. If folks dont mind coming into the Flushing we can go to a lane in Queens. Whitestone Lanes is out there and they are 24/7

Dont worry I havent been bowling in like 4years, but its a great group fun kind of thing.

But I'm for it no matter what the majority of the folks here decide.

Volleyball in the park sounds fun! But I am up for anything.... bowling...I'm only good when I drink! hehehehe And I will shamefully admit that I have only broken 100 twice!

All I ask is that someone will be able to get me wherever we are going with some EXCELLENT directions! I will be taking NJ transit into the city but I am kind of direction illiterate!

The bus gets there much faster than the Septa/NJ Transit train thing Linda.

I think you can catch the bus from the Greyhound downtown (10th and Filbert) and it will drop you off at Port Authority in NYC.

That's as much as I know ... I'm lost in NYC.

I'd be happy to meet people at Penn Station or the Port Authority (hey, even Grand Central), although not both places at once.

Maybe a few of us already in the city could be a "meeter"?

I am really for being outdoors if at all possible. Voleyball, softball, frisbee, whatever works. But of course I will go along with the majority

So can I say it is official?? JULY 10
