Can anyone tell me approximately how many almond it would take to make a 1/2 cup of almond flour, if I made it myself?? Just wondering!

Thanks, Hobbit

Try grinding half a cup of almonds and see what you are left with and then go from there?

Thanks MyJourney,
I guess I was taking the easy way out, thought someone had done it before. Thanks for reminding me that I could measure them whole and go from there. I'll let you know.

Sounds like hard work to me! Is it hard to find where you live? Here, its usually with the baking products, sometimes called 'ground almonds'. If you're like me, you'll get through loads of it - I'd find a ready made source if you can.
I've just finished making orange biscotti using ground almonds - delicious! In fact, I might have to go and have one.

I buy the pre-packaged ground almonds as well and use them often - much quicker and requires a bit less prep for me when in a hurry.

Default Where I live and almond flour

JayKay,

I think you have a good idea, about finding ready made Almond flour, we have a store here that sells bulk spices etc., hope they have some. I live on the South West coast of Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico, just a few miles north of Fort Myers. FL.

OK, I'm going to put it in the bread and baked goods section of the recipe bit, so everyone can find it.
