Default What's your "Go To" Move?

Here's the Scenario:

I'm at my desk, working. Suddenly, thoughts of the vending machine creep in. Or I start to wonder if anyone has left any goodies in the common area. Visions of cookies, Fritos, left-over bagels and danish start dancing in my head. I don't *WANT* to think of these things, but habits are hard to break and the thoughts come unbidden, so the best I can do right now is NOT give in. So I developed my "Go To" move. And that move is Green Tea.

When those dirty little snack food thoughts start to plague me and I can't refocus, I go get tea. I've never been a coffee or tea drinker, so tea is new to me and the whole process takes a while. By the time I've gone to the machine and gotten hot water, gone to the common area and gotten a tea bag, come back to my office and floated the bag for a minute or two, then actually FINISHED the tea (boy, it takes me a while to sip down anything that HOT), usually the dirty little snack food thoughts are gone. Plus, my tummy feels placated by the warm liquid.

What is your secret weapon "Go To" move?

*poof*

I exercise. When I feel a craving coming on I get on my stepper. I have a rule that when I'm on the stepper I have to do at least 20 minutes on it, so by the time I've gotten of it, the craving is gone.
If I'm not home I drink up on water, lots of it to make me so full there is no room for that cheat.

I have a cup of hot tea, usually a Celestial Seasonings fruit flavor. Works great!

Usually, though, it's the late at night nibbles, and so I go into my closet, instead. Remembering those frantic mornings when nothing would fit right and I would have to try to convince myself it "shrunk in the wash" is enough for me to go...make a cup of tea!

I get up from my desk, walk in to someone else's office, chat for a couple of minutes and go back to work.

I eat a couple of nuts - macadamias and almonds and drink a bottle of water. If it is strong cravings because brownies, cookies, etc are being waved under my nose I might break out some lc chocolate.

I start writing in my food journal....furiously and with a vengeance...specially if the sweet tooth is banging. I write about how I feel at the moment, the way I'd feel if I was eating it, and the consequences after I ate it. My new mantra is "A moment on the lips is ten years on the hips"

Good topic CheesyPoof!
I usually browse the recipe section here for some lc treat I can make when I get home. It takes time and also reminds me I can have something sweet, just not the crap in the vending machine.
